Jock. Secretly a science geek. Hot AF.
LobsterShorts: So. Here goes. For her birthday, my girlfriend wants…a threesome.
SinnerThree: Then you’ve come to the right hookup app.
LobsterShorts: Have you done this sort of thing before? With another guy?
SinnerThree: All the time. I'm an equal opportunity player. You?
LobsterShorts: [crickets!]
SinnerThree, 21
Finance major. Secretly a male dancer. Hot AF.
SinnerThree: Well, I’m down if you are. My life is kind of a mess right now. School, work, family stress. Oh, and I live next door to the most annoying dude in the world. I need the distraction. Are you sure you want this?
LobsterShorts: I might want it a little more than I’m willing to admit.
SinnerThree: Hey, nothing wrong with pushing your boundaries...
LobsterShorts: Tell that to my control-freak father. Anyway. What if this threesome is awkward?
SinnerThree: Then it’s awkward. It’s not like we’ll ever have to see each other again. Right? Just promise you won’t fall in love with me.
LobsterShorts: Now wouldn’t that be life-changing...

Review:
3 stars ***
This book was pretty good, but not my favorite joint effort by these authors. Top Secret is their second MM couple undertaking and is Keaton and Luke's story. Keaton has been dating his girlfriend, Annika, for several years. She expresses interest in a threesome for a birthday present from Keaton, who is curious as well, even though he has never been interested in men before. So he goes on a kink hookup app and finds bisexual Luke. He begins communicating with Luke to see if he would be a good match for them and he finds himself interested and turned on by him. But he doesn't know that Luke is actually a guy from his fraternity that he doesn't get along with. Still, the two of them can't fight their attraction, especially once they find out who each other are and when Keaton finds himself unexpectedly single. They have a lot to deal with, fighting their relationship at times, and both of them have family struggles, but they manage to begin a relationship and come through it all together in the end.
I had read an enjoyed Him and Us by these authors. I really enjoyed that series and felt the two MM characters in those books were true soulmates. While I don't read a ton of MM books, that series is my favorite I have read in the genre. So I had high hopes this book would be more of the same and I must admit I was slightly disappointed.
I liked Keaton and Luke in general. Keaton was very sweet and pretty much a puppy dog. Luke was more edgy and tough. I didn't love the way he treated Keaton for much of the book, but I liked him by the end. I did like the overall story of the book, but I found Top Secret to be a little too slow moving. I don't love enemies to lovers stories and this book was that way for too long. I found there to be too much pushing away by Luke. The most difficult thing for me, as a reader, is that I felt little real chemistry or love between the couple. I didn't even get a friendship vibe between them until the end. There is a long separation and no real relationship until the end. Still, I did like the story line. It was interesting and different. The college and fraternity setting was fun. And I ended up liking Keaton and Luke together.
I should address the cheating aspect- (view spoiler)
Overall, I wanted to love this book, but it never quite got there to me. It's quite possible it is a case of it's my personal taste and not the book. Still, I did enjoy it in general. I am still a big fan of these authors and will read anything the write in the future.
