Fund Information:

The Keith Milano Memorial Fund was established to help raise awareness about the devastating and deadly disease that is mental illness. Keith’s spirit and laughter is kept alive through our efforts to increase awareness about mental illness and to raise money for education and imperative research. Keith often struggled with society’s perception of mental illness. Our hope is that by having the strength to say that Keith was “Bipolar” we can strip away the stigma and help others to be more open about their disease.

If you want to know more about Keith or why Denise does what she does, here is short video/interview that speaks to that!

The Keith Milano Memorial Fund benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). At the end of the event, participating authors will pay AFSP directly.

AFSP is the only national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education, and to reaching out to people with mood disorders and those affected by suicide. AFSP is a fully accredited 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated in the state of Delaware with primary offices in New York City. Federal tax ID # is 13-3393329. EXCERPT:

Callie Sheppard was startled by the sound of the door opening. She sat straight up in bed and wondered what the hell she was doing. It had seemed like a great idea at the time, but now a tremor of trepidation ran through her system. She was naked in a notorious BDSM club, waiting for two men to walk in and take her virginity. It wasn’t that she minded losing her virginity. She wasn’t doing anything interesting with it in the first place. It needed to go, but now she worried this wasn’t the way to do it. She wanted some affection and kindness. Would they give that to her? Oh, god, Stef had found her two guys for her birthday. She’d made him a loaf of zucchini bread and shared a bottle of cheap wine for his. What was she doing? Could she run? She was naked. That didn’t really bother her, but it could confound a lot of people. “Hello.” The deepest voice she’d ever heard pulled her from her panic. She turned and hoped there wasn’t a line of drool running out of her mouth as she caught sight of them. Best birthday present ever. Stef might be straight, but he knew how to pick gorgeous men. She climbed as gracefully as she could off the big bed and faced them. They were perfect. The one who had spoken was tall. She doubted she would reach his shoulders when she stood against him. He was at least six and a half feet, and his body was corded with muscle. Every piece of him seemed chiseled out of granite. He was male model perfection, with a strong jaw and piercing green eyes. His hair was inky black and curled sweetly over his ears. His partner wasn’t quite as tall but still was no small man. He was a few inches shorter than the gorgeous monster, and his body held a lean strength. If the black-haired devil was a linebacker, this man was a swimmer. His eyes were a stark blue. His skin was sun kissed and smooth. Callie was fascinated with the idea of soft skin covering steel. His hair was cut in a military style. It was a rich brown. The intimate light of the room caught the gold and red streaks. He looked like a man who laughed often. Everything inside her heated up at the sight of them, and she wasn’t so scared anymore. Why the hell would she run from all that hotness? And they were handpicked by a man who would never, ever hurt her. She was safe with them. “Hello.” It seemed like a dumb thing to say to two glorious men when she was naked as the day she was born, but it was all she could think of. “Hello, Callie.” The other man’s voice was deep, too, but there was an inherent friendliness to his Texas accent. It looked like Stef had found her a couple of cowboys. The blue-eyed man watched her. He gave her a small, calm smile, like he didn’t want to scare her. “Are you nervous, sweetheart? We don’t want you to be. Nothing happens here that you don’t want. All you have to do is say the word and everything stops.” Their eyes were on her body. Callie had never thought much about her body before. It was a natural thing. She’d grown up in a household where nudity wasn’t frowned on. She was comfortable in her skin, only now she wasn’t. Now she was starting to feel hot and restless. They weren’t avoiding her private parts the way the nudists politely did back in Bliss. These men stared boldly at her breasts, and her breasts seemed to be staring right back. Her nipples were hard nubs. “Do I get a safe word?” The question came out on a breathy sigh. She’d always wanted to know what it felt like to truly submit. Stefan’s subs always seemed satisfied. The blue-eyed man’s mouth turned down. “Your safe word is no. We don’t have to play games. All you have to do is say no and we stop.” “But we can play games if you want to.” That came from the big guy. His husky voice did all sorts of things to her libido. He walked boldly up to her and placed his hands on her hips. His touch lit up her skin. “Do you want to play, darlin’?” Oh, yeah, she wanted to play.

I enjoyed this book just as much on the second read, especially with the new material. Two to Love was originally released until the name Sophie Oak. Now it has been re-released with extra material under Lexi Blake. This book is a MFM menage - Callie, Nate and Zane's book. Callie grew up in the small town of Bliss, CO. There are not very many people there and no single men her age. She always had a crush on local twin boys, Rye and Max, who shared their women in menage relationships, but they always thought of her as a sister. So she turns to her friend, Stephan, who is a member of a BDSM club, and he sets her up with two men to spend a weekend with and fulfill her fantasy. Those two men are Nate and Zane. They spend some sexy time together and all of them feel a connection, but the men are leaving to work undercover for the FBI so they leave her without further contact. Now it is 6 years later and while undercover things went very wrong for Nate and Zane, and they are both very troubled and depressed about what happened. Looking to start over, they move to Bliss, where Nate will be the new sheriff in town. Neither of the men have forgotten Callie, but they have no idea Bliss is her hometown and that she works as the secretary in the sheriff's office. They are not in any shape to start a relationship until they recover from their past demons. It takes a lot of emotional work between the three of them and some past enemies showing up to threaten their newfound happiness, before they realize the love they've found in each other is worth fighting for.

I liked Callie, Nate and Zane. I did feel like they loved each other and I felt their connection. I did feel like there was a lot of wishy washy feelings and pushing away. It seemed like every other page one of the characters was going to leave for the good of/to save the other characters. It got a little frustrating. I also felt like the book dragged a little and it took a little too long for all three characters to be all in with each other and settled. Still, I did enjoy the story. There were light and funny moments, along with emotional and sexy ones. I love the town of Bliss and all it's charm. I look forward to more from this fun series and Ms. Blake in the future!

Compared to the intergalactic tinfoil hat brigade, he's a god amongst mere mortals. Too handsome for his own good (and mine), with a grumpy arrogance, and the most beautiful smile ever—he smashes my plan to pieces like a UFO crashing into the desert.
I need a tinfoil hat for my heart.
Do I believe in aliens? I’m not sure.
What do I believe? I’m not going to fall in love with Boone. Definitely not . . .

****

This was a really good, different book! I haven't read a book with this theme before and it felt very fresh and interesting. This is Lucy and Boone's book. Lucy has an interesting past. Her father disappeared when she was a child and her mother was adamant that he was abducted by aliens. She swore that he had not left them and, while Lucy was skeptical, she never knew what really happened to him. Now grown up, after Lucy's mother dies of cancer, Lucy feels alone and at loose ends. So she decides to move to Roswell, New Mexico, where her father was from, to search for the truth about what happened to him among the alien fanatics. She gets a job as a waitress and meets some interesting folks, including Boone, a customer in the restaurant. She develops a crush on the mysterious Boone, but nothing happens between them until she meets his sister and they become friends. Lucy and Boone develop a relationship as she continues investigating her dad's disappearance and the existence of aliens.

This book did have a NA, somewhat innocent feel. Lucy and Boone are 28 and 30 years old, but they felt more like they were about 21. I wasn't too bothered by it, though. I really liked Boone and Lucy. Boone was mysterious and shy, but a really good guy and it was obvious he cared about Lucy. She was funny and sweet, if a little lost and trying to find her place. I definitely felt their connection and good chemistry between them. The story was so fun yet suspenseful at times, but also light and refreshing. I was sucked into Lucy's quest for the truth. There were some cute, funny, emotional moments. I really enjoyed reading about the sights in New Mexico and the alien culture in Roswell, as well as seeing Lucy and Boone's relationship develop.

Overall, I really enjoyed this engrossing, easy read. I especially enjoyed it's unique, fresh feel. I definitely recommend it to someone looking for an original, fun book. I look forward to more from Ms. Prescott in the future!

Blog Tour: Fortuity by Rochelle Paige + Excerpt & Review!

FORTUITY_BT_BANNER1.jpg

Fortuity, the first in the all-new, emotional and romantic Fortuity Duet by Rochelle Paige, is available NOW!

Fortuity paperback

The only kinds of luck I knew were bad and worse...until my life hung in the balance. I finally caught a break in the form of a second chance.
I vowed not to let it go to waste.
To make a difference.
But I didn’t start really living until I met him.
Dillon Montgomery.
My complete opposite—except for our matching tortured souls.
I couldn’t resist him for long.
How could I when his smallest touch made my heart race?
When it felt like we were destined to be together.
But sometimes luck and sorrow are intertwined…

Excerpt:

Dillon twisted his neck and flashed me an apologetic grin over his shoulder. Unwanted butterflies swirled in my belly, and I quickly yanked my hands away from his shoulders and took a step backwards. His eyes flashed with male satisfaction and his grin grew wider. Determined to ignore the impact he had on me, I shifted my focus to the students. “Your test date is coming fast, so you’ll need to squeeze in as much extra study time as you can without neglecting your regular coursework. Maybe set aside some time during Thanksgiving break when you don’t have as much homework.” “Ugh. Studying over break sucks,” one of the girls complained. “Yeah, but you guys are in the homestretch. This test score is one of the last things you need to get into college. Trust me, it’ll be worth the extra effort.” “I guess if you could get into college while recovering from a transplant, then the least I can do is a little bit of studying over a holiday break that isn’t even that big of a deal since I don’t have a family to celebrate it with anyway.” The other kids nodded in agreement, and I snuck a peek at Dillon while everyone finished packing up. His brown eyes were wide with shock. I quickly looked away before he could ask me anything, and focused on saying my goodbyes as the kids all headed out. We both kept quiet—for which I was incredibly grateful—as Dillon helped me clean up the room. When we were back on the road, I turned to him and asked, "Were you really teaching my kids how to count cards?” His lips tilted up at the edges. “Maybe just a little.” “It’s a good thing none of them have any money to gamble or else they might learn to enjoy blackjack as much as you do.” His lip tilt turned into a full-fledged grin, and I glared at him. “I don’t know why you’re grinning at me! Look at what your affinity for gambling got you.” “What?” He pointed at his face. “The black eye?” “Yeah, for starters.” His grin grew into a blinding smile. “It was worth it.” “What? Why?” “Because it’s the reason I met you.” Shit. Those damn butterflies took flight in my stomach again.

Fortuity was a pretty good, sweet book. This is Dillon and Faith's story. Faith is an orphan whose single mother died of a drug overdose, leaving her in foster care for years. When careless treatment by her foster parents leads to a medical issue, Faith's life is put in danger and she is forced to undergo a kidney transplant. Now, she is finally getting her life on track. She is a senior in college, working towards a degree in counseling. She also begins counseling high school students in the foster care system on how to get into and pay for college. A wealthy society lady (Dillon's mother) meets and becomes involved with Faith, helping raise money for her charity. Dillon is also a college senior at Faith's college. After he gets in a fight in a casino, his mother recruits him to help Faith, as well. When the two meet, they have an instant connection and soon start a relationship. But some things are not as they seem and they have some obstacles they are going to have to overcome in book two of this duet.

I liked this book. The story was interesting. I felt like the beginning and back story took a bit too long to get going. It was a little slow moving and the couple doesn't meet until 40%. It feel kind of YA until they met and quickly developed feelings for each other. I did like Dillon and Faith a lot. It was obvious they loved each other. They are both good people with good intentions. Dillon is not a manwhore and he is head over heels for Faith from the beginning. It was great to see them both find happiness and overcome difficult pasts. They had a sweet, somewhat innocent relationship and a strong connection. There is a twist, which I figured out pretty quickly, and a cliffhanger ending, but it isn't a relationship cliffhanger so I have hopes for an easy resolution in book two, Serenity.

Overall, this was a sweet, enjoyable NA read. It did feel a little young for me, I was not too bothered. Fortuity was a quick, easy, safe read. I enjoyed seeing the endearing and charming relationship develop between the couple. I look forward to the conclusion to Dillon and Faith's simple love story and more from Ms. Paige!

EXCERPT:

“What on earth is that look for?” Julian stared down at her, his lips pulled up in obvious amusement. Finn leaned over so he could be heard over the loud music. “I think Dani is enjoying her role as town harlot.” Julian frowned. “Harlot? Why would she be a harlot?” Dani and Finn laughed together. For the first time, they completely understood something Julian didn’t. “This is a small town, Sir,” Finn explained. “All anyone is going to talk about tomorrow is the fact that Dani Bay snuck up the stairs at The Barn with two guys. Trust me, she is going to be called all kinds of names. Mostly to her back, though.” She shrugged. It was to be expected. At least no one would be feeling sorry for her. Julian’s face went dark, and his fingers tightened around hers. “They had better not say anything where I can hear it.” He relaxed and nodded down at her. “I’m going to speak with Jackson, dear. You and Finn stay together. We’ll be leaving shortly. We’ll retrieve Finn’s things and go back out to the ranch.” He turned and walked off, supremely confident that his orders would be met. He turned back suddenly. “And stay out of trouble.” Dani grinned. He didn’t look so confident that she would follow that edict. He walked away. She watched his gorgeous ass as it disappeared into the crowd. When she turned, she noticed that Finn was watching, too. “I’m sorry.” Finn pulled back slightly, his hand coming out of hers. That look was back in his eyes. “Are you going to be an asshole?” she asked. “What?” “I thought we worked through this, but it looks like you’re going to be an asshole.” She wasn’t putting up with it. Maybe she would have before but being with them had changed her. Being with Julian and Finn together seemed to have altered something fundamental in Dani. It had been beautiful. She’d never felt as deeply as she did when they were kissing her, loving her. There had been that terrible moment when she was sure Julian was leaving, but he’d stayed. He had to care about her. He cared, and Finn cared. She wasn’t going to let anyone take that away from her or make her feel ashamed. That was hers. Finn stared almost blankly and then shook his head. “I’m sorry. I spent so long trying to hide this from you.” “Hide what? That I knew you were gay? I was well aware of that. Why did you get upset because I caught you drooling over Julian’s ass?” His eyes slid down. “Damn it, Dani. This is why I stayed away. I knew it should be only the two of us, but I wasn’t sure I could do it. I’m not sure I can stay away from men.” Julian was shaking his head at Jack, who seemed to be teasing him something fierce. Dani stared at him for a moment. She noticed she wasn’t the only one. All around her, other women had their eyes on the hot new guy. They could look, but Julian was hers. He might not know it, but she planned on keeping him. And Finn. As soon as they ironed out a few things. “And it never occurred to you to say, hey, Dani, here’s the problem. Let’s see if we can solve it? No, you decide to keep your mouth shut and almost let me marry someone I didn’t love because you didn’t want to admit you’re bi.” “Damn it, I didn’t want to lose you. I love you, Danielle. You’re the only thing in my life that’s permanent. I would rather keep you in my life than lose you because I can’t be normal. It should be two people. A marriage should be two people.” Oh, yes, she had to fix his way of thinking. “Says who? The old biddies at church? Screw them. Why does everything have to be one way? What we did up there didn’t hurt anyone. It isn’t anyone’s business but ours. I love you, Finn, but I think I’m falling for Julian, too. Can you handle that?” “I can certainly try, baby. I was willing to love you from afar. I prefer loving you up close.”

This book was a pretty good addition to this sexy, fun series! This is an MMF romance between Julian, Finn and Dani/Danielle. Julian Lodge is a bisexual, BDSM club owner and dom. He has recently let his sub go and feels at loose ends so he goes down to visit some friends (Jack from earlier books in this series) in their small Texas town to regroup. Finn and Dani have been best friends since they were kids. Finn has always been out as gay. Now he is living in the city and Dani is left in their small hometown. She is getting married to a jerky guy from their town. Finn comes down to her wedding. He plans to tell her that he is really bisexual and he doesn't want her to get married, and that he is in love with her and wants to be together. But before he can object at her wedding, Dani turns runaway bride and runs out of the church. She happens upon a man driving a car and jumps in to get away. The car belongs to Julian and he wants to help the upset bride so he takes her with him to his friends' home. They quickly begin a D/s sexual relationship, and when Finn shows up and professes his love to Dani, he joins in the group as a second sub. The group has a good bit of drama, trying to work out how their relationship will be, if it can last, and also trouble with Dani's mean sister and someone from Julian's past with evil intentions, but it all works out in the end.

The story was very good and interesting. The writing was great, as always with Ms. Blake's work.
I did like Julian, Finn and Dani. Julian was very closed off with Finn and Dani throughout the whole book. He had to learn to love and let them in. I had a hard time feeling the love between him and the other characters because he never let his guard down or acted like a normal person. He was in full, strict dom mode all the time. I had a hard time understanding how Dani and Finn could love him when he was so closed off. I believed Dani's love for Julian, even if I didn't understand why, but it took me awhile to feel the love from Julian to either of them or from Finn to Julian. I did feel Finn's love for Dani, and vice versa, but I didn't feel a lot of chemistry between them. They had a very "buddy", BFF vibe. Finn was supposed to top Dani in the relationship, but he seemed too weak to be above her in the relationship chain. There was not enough happy times shown between the three of them. Also, there was so much focus on Julian's character, that I didn't feel like I knew much about Finn's character. I just didn't love the way the characters' relationships developed and didn't feel like they were a cohesive menage trio until the end. I did feel like most of the wrongs in the relationship were righted by the end and I did feel them finally come all together. I just wanted that to come a little sooner for me to enjoy the book more.

Overall, though, I did enjoy this book for the interesting, enjoyable, engrossing story and the very good writing. The characters were complex with lots of depth. I was happy with where Finn, Dani and Julian ended up and felt secure in their HEA. I look forward to more from this fun, sexy series and Ms. Blake!

New Release: Disturbing His Peace by Tessa Bailey + Review!

Disturbing His Peace
by Tessa Bailey

Blurb:

She’s got probable cause to make her move . . .

Danika Silva can’t stand Lt. Greer Burns. Her roommate’s older brother may be sexy as hell, but he’s also a cold, unfeeling robot. She just wants to graduate and forget about her scowling superior. But when a dangerous mistake lands Danika on probation—under Greer’s watch—she’s forced to interact with the big, hulking jerk. Call him daily to check in? Done. Ride shotgun in his cruiser every night? Done. Try not to climb into his giant, muscular lap and kiss him? Umm…

Greer doesn’t let anything—or anyone—distract him from the job. Except lately, all he can think about is Danika. He’s wanted the beautiful, cocky recruit since the moment he saw her. But she’s reckless and unpredictable, and Greer is painfully aware of what can happen when an officer doesn’t follow the rules. Probation seemed like a good idea, but now Danika’s scent is in his car and he’s replayed her voicemails twenty times. Christ, he’s a goner.
Danika’s melting Greer’s stone-cold exterior one ride-along at a time. Being together could have serious consequences… but breaking a few rules never hurt anybody, right?

Another super sweet, emotional and hot book from this fun series! This is Danika and Greer's book. Danika is Jack and Charlie's roommate (from the first two books in the series) and fellow police academy student. Greer is a lieutenant and one of the instructors of the academy as well as Charlie's older brother and the son of the police chief. He lives for his job and does everything by the rule book. Danika and Greer have been attracted to each other for awhile but circumstances and fears have kept them from acting on their feelings. When she thinks he has been unfair to her friend, Jack, Danika starts to dislike Greer. But she makes a dangerous mistake with her job, and gets put on probation, requiring her to work more closely with and be monitored by Greer. They start to get to know each other better, feelings grow stronger and they give into their attraction. They have some emotional obstacles to overcome and they both must fight to get their well-deserved happy ever after, but it all works out in the end.

I loved Greer and Danika. They were both such layered, complex characters that were easy to relate to (and to love!). Greer was a one-of-a-kind hero. Strong but vulnerable, and living a very rigid, lonely existence. He had some major baggage over his mother leaving their family as a child. He was afraid to feel anything or let anyone in, for fear he would lose them. So he closed himself off from everyone, even his family and having no friends, living his life like he was enclosed in ice. Slowly, Danika began to thaw him out. She was too awesome and too tempting for him to stay away from or keep out. It was great to see him blossom under Danika's love and find true happiness. Danika was an awesome heroine. Fun, sexy, giving, honest and sweet. She too blossomed under Greer's love and protective care for her. They were a great opposites attract couple and together they helped each other become better people. They both had to make a conscious decision to live each day to the fullest and be happy together, instead of letting past fears rule them. I also liked that the fact that Greer being one of Danika's instructors wasn't a big taboo or obstacle in their relationship. And I liked the police academy aspect and tidbits about Greer's job as a police lieutenant.

I love Tessa Bailey's writing. She writes some of the best sexy, sensual scenes out there, chock-full of emotion! She makes sex scenes I've read so many times before feel brand new. So hot, but also emotional, sweet and deep. Also, I especially love her male POV. This was a great book to end this fun series. I have loved everyone of these books and am sad to see the series end. All three couples were awesome. I feel like this review turned into a love letter to this book and Ms. Bailey, but I can't help it. I definitely recommend this awesome series and feel it is some of her best work yet. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I can't wait for more from Tessa Bailey in the future!
