What is The Bachelors Club?
It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have. Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.
We’re ineligible bachelors, bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually. So committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest…
Four days co-habitating in a shared work space shouldn’t be a big deal. It shouldn’t be distracting. But Spencer Standish saw me puking in a company trash can, and won’t let me live it down. Cheerful, aggravating Spencer, who wants me to fetch her coffee.
As if she’s the boss of me.
And now I’m stuck sharing her office.
Let’s face facts: I can’t be in a relationship; not when there’s a bet to win—not with Spencer, who loves my uncontrollable basset hound, lazy Sundays, and grilled cheese as much as I do. I refuse to fall for her.
I will be the last Bachelor standing.
Review:
3.5 stars *** Bachelor Boss is book two in the Bachelor's Club series and is Spencer and Phillip's book. Phillip is Brooks' friend and fellow member of his club, who has sworn not to date and to stay a bachelor. Spencer is his co-worker that he meets at work. They have a funny incident in the break room, which ends with Phillip tossing his cookies. Fate comes into play when there are some improvements being made to the office flooring and the two of them are forced to share an office for a week. They aren't sure they like each other at first and fight an attraction, but eventually they give in and begin a relationship. This book was enjoyable, but not quite as enjoyable for me as book one. It was very light and felt very short. There was not quite as much relationship development as I prefer in books. The whole book takes place over a week and they decide they like each other and decide to date at the end. Still, it was a fast paced, easy read. Phillip and Spencer had a funny, "picking on each other" relationship with good banter but low heat. There wasn't a ton of chemistry and not any deep emotions. But Phillip and Spencer were fine as characters. Overall, the story was enjoyable and the book entertaining. Phillip has a cute dog who is integral to the story, which I enjoyed as well. Bachelor Boss was entertaining and a light, easy read. It is a good book to get you out of your head during these stressful days in life. I look forward to more from Ms. Ney and this fun series in the future! |
