New Release: Jock Road by Sara Ney + Review!

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.

Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras. His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.

Repeat.
Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.

BIG. DUMB. JOCK.

Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

REVIEW:

4 stars
****

Aww, this was a good book! Jock Road is book three in the Jock Hard series and is Charlotte/Charlie and Jackson's book. They both attend the same college. A small town Texas guy, Jackson is a star on the football team, but he is not the outgoing, typical jock, popular type. He stays out of trouble and away from women, focusing only on football. Charlie is a sweet girl. She is not the party girl, outgoing type either. Neither of them really date, but when they meet each other they are intrigued and feel a connection. The two become friends and spend time together, which leads to more. Jackson sees that there is more to life outside of football. That his future is his to decide, so he can let himself fall in love and have a HEA with Charlie.

I really liked book one in this series, but I didn't love book two. So I was apprehensive going into this book. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. Jock Hard is a really sweet, easy read. Charlie and Jackson meet when he tailgates her in her car, blinding her with his bright, jacked up truck lights. She tells him off. Then they meet again in the cafeteria when he cuts the line and takes her food off the counter. They don't get off on a great foot, but Jackson likes Charlie's sassyness. The two end up becoming friends. Jackson has led a kind of lonely life, with pressure from his father to only focus on football and a career in the NFL. He has no experience with women at all and hasn't allowed himself to even go there. But Charlie shows him that there is more to life than football. They have great chemistry and are really cute together. I love the sweetness, sexiness and low angst of the story. I really liked Charlie and Jackson. I did think the pacing was a little off at the end of the story and it kind of fizzled out. I wanted a further ahead epilogue and to know what Jackson decided about his future football career. I just wanted a little more resolution. Still, I really enjoyed it.

Overall, this was a really sweet, simple story. I enjoyed seeing Charlie and Jackson's relationship develop. I am looking forward to more from this fun series!
