My name is Jake Sheppard and I’m ambivalent about Christmas and the Christmas-themed town I grew up in. But when I find out my late uncle left me an old barn and acres of land, the decision to return home to build my dream golf course is an easy one.   Imagine my surprise when I arrive and find out I have a squatter.   An incredibly sexy squatter, with wavy blonde hair, green eyes, a free spirit… and a herd of goats.   Lexi hates my guts. Apparently evicting a non-paying non-tenant and her goats weeks before Christmas is grounds for war.   Except Lexi’s version of war includes flinging her clothing at me and, as it turns out, I might be in way over my head with this girl…

One Night with a Nutcracker was another fun addition to the Reindeer Falls series, though I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the previous books. This is Jake and Sutton's story. Sutton is a goat farmer who lives in an airstream and makes goat milk soap and other products to sell. Jake has inherited his uncle's land, which happens to be where Sutton has been "squatting" and living in her airstream trailer for years. He comes back to his hometown to build a golf course on his newly inherited land. Sutton doesn't seem to understand why she can't keep living on property she doesn't own and fights with him about it. Still, there is an attraction, so romance, and, eventually, compromise ensues.
I don't know how long this book was, but it felt shorter and not as much of a complete story. There is no talk of love at all. Still, I did enjoy the story in general. I felt it had potential, but never quite got there for me. I'm not a huge fan of the enemies to lovers trope, so that may have affected my enjoyment. I didn't find the book as cute, sweet or Christmassy as the previous books. But it was still an easy, quick read. I enjoyed the book in general and I still really like this series. I look forward to more from the Reindeer Falls gang!

There’s only one thing I want to unwrap this year… my best friend’s roommate. I’ve known Austin for years now, and crushed on him just as long. He’s smart, funny, and hot enough to melt an ice cap. I’d really like to stop fantasizing and finally visit his North Pole. So tonight’s the night. Charlotte and Austin are hosting the costumed Christmas party to end all costumed Christmas parties. Or perhaps the first to start the trend? Regardless, this is my chance to finally confess. This year, I’m going to hang my stocking on Austin’s door… and hope it’s not just his heart I convince to grow three sizes bigger.

Review:

3.5-4 stars

****

Snowed Inn for Christmas is a cute, holiday anthology featuring couples who get snowed in together over Christmas. The anthology takes place in the small town of Winter Springs during a blizzard and has stories from some of my favorite authors including Elle Christensen, Brynne Asher, Lucy Darling, Fiona Davenport, Hope Ford, Layla Frost, Ella Goode, Frankie Love, and Rochelle Paige. There were some stories I really enjoyed in this anthology and a few I did not like as much. But, overall, I enjoyed this anthology. Here are my thoughts on the stories in this fun anthology:

Lincoln and Bethany by Fiona Davenport- 3.5 stars. Entertaining, cute, but a little cheesy. Not a ton of depth and personality to the characters, but still, it was entertaining.

Nick and Quinn by Frankie Love - 3.25 stars. An okay read, but I felt it needed more closure and felt some threads were left hanging. I didn't really feel and love, just lust.

Gavin and Tory by Rochelle Paige - DNF. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get into this story. We don't get to see the couple meet and it left me feeling nothing between them.

Caleb and Raven by Elle Christensen - 3.5 stars. This was a pretty cute story. A little on the instalove side, but still enjoyable and sweet.

Levi and Georgina by Hope Ford - 3 stars. This story felt super short and very instalove in a not verybelievable way.

Saint and Marley by Lucy Darling - 3.75 stars. I really liked this story. It was cute and fun. I liked Saint and Marley a lot. We get a jealous/possessive hero and an easy, fun read.

Rowan and Charlie by Ella Goode - 3.5 stars. This was a pretty good, married couple's second chance love story. I did find Charlie was a liitle harsh and rude to Rowan at first, but I ended up enjoying the story. I look forward to the epilogue.

Ring around the Posey / Eli and Posey by Layla Frost - 4 stars. I really liked this story. It was a little longer than most of the others and neither of the couples were virgins. The story was sexy, sweet and really good.

Force of Nature, a Carpino novel / Logan and Demi by Brynne Asher - 4 stars. This was my favorite story and the longest. I loved this story. It was really good. Logan and Demi were a great match. They were sweet, sexy and had great chemistry. This story and the characters had depth and left me wanting more.

Overall, I enjoyed this anthology and found it entertaining. The snowed in setting was fun and just the thing to get you in the holiday spirit. I liked many of the stories and found some new authors!

The Rhythm Method is a novella set in the Stage Dive world. It focuses on David and Ev, from the book Lick, whose worlds are rocked by a suprise birth, like something right out of the tv show "I didn't know I was pregnant". Now they find themselves parents completely unexpectedly and, even though they did want to be parents someday, the reality of it really shakes up their lives.

I love David and Ev as a couple and loved them in their own book, as well as the other books in the series. But I really hated the conflict and some of the behavior between them in this book. It seemed immature and made me doubt their love somewhat, especially David behavior and treatment of Ev. Also, while I thought the suprise pregnancy aspect was interesting and fun, I didn't find the baby or birth details realistically written at all. Still, I liked the book in general and enjoyed being back in the Stage Dive world with the other characters I love. However, I did feel like it lacked some of the love and nostalgia I expected to find. However, I am will continue to be a fan of this series and look forward to what Kylie Scott comes up with next.

This was such a cute, easy read! I really enjoyed this fourth book in the Reindeer Falls series. This is Ryan and /maggie's book. Ryan is a grumpy, grinchy architect who grew up in the Christmas themed town of Reindeer Falls, but was not a fan and moved out to the big city. Now he is back in town for the holiday season after his uncle dies and he inherits his house. There he meets Maggie, who is one of the towns Holiday compliance officers, aka Cristmas cop, who makes sure everyone in town has their homes decorated and keeps up with the theme of the town. Of course, a sweet, witty, sexy romance occurs. Think a Hallmark movie with heat. Overall, Elves with Benefits is a really fun, holiday read to get you in the Christmas spirit!

New Release: Playing the Player by Erin McCarthy

One of us has to make a big play and decide if this game of love has a final score…

Playing the Player, an all-new steamy sports romance from New York Times bestselling author Erin McCarthy, is out now! Get ready to fall in love with JJ Beckett.

When a chance meeting with a tall, hot, and obviously wealthy stranger leads to a sexy hookup, can this Cinderella play to win, or will it all end when the clock runs out?

I did not steal JJ Beckett’s wallet. Or his championship ring.
In fact, seeing as I accidentally left my shoe behind, maybe I should be the one crying thief.
But after a one-night stand with the hottest stranger I'd ever seen?

Well, that was the last thing I was yelling.

Not that I had time to say much of anything–I was already late for work.
The shoe seemed like a small price to pay for a night like that.
The kind of night I could remember while I’m cleaning other people’s rooms; the kind of night a girl like me never dared to dream of.

C'est la vie, right?
Wrong.

Because the shoe wasn’t the only accidental thing that happened the morning after.
Turns out I may have grabbed his stuff too.
Putting it back isn’t as easy as I’d hoped . . . and as he says, no one plays the player.
Getting caught leads to some X-rated tackles that make it all worth the risk.

Now one of us has to make a big play and decide if this game of love has a final score…
