Staring at his chin, because I couldn’t quite lift my eyes any higher, I cleared my throat. “Should we get ready for bed?” “Sure,” he said, his voice a rumble. Dan’s eyes were on me, I felt the weight of them. My hands came to the hem of my skirt and I hesitated, feeling winded for some reason. Sneaking a glance at him, I immediately wished I hadn’t. His gaze was watchful, but it was also unmistakably hot in a way that seemed at once both avaricious and accusatory. The vice tightened around my lungs. Kiss him! Just freaking kiss him! You want numbered steps? Fine. You kiss him- check. He kisses you back- check. Then you make out- check. Check the boxes. I licked my lips, balling my hands into fists at my sides again, preparing to follow my hasty list. But then he said, “Undress me.” My breath caught. On instinct, my eyes lifted and collided with his in much the same way our bodies had collided at the top of the stairs just moments ago. Jarring. Startling. Thrilling. This time I couldn’t look away because this time I was falling. He made no move to catch me. “What? What did you say?” His eyes narrowed, which served only to increase the intensity of his gaze from smolder to inferno. “Take my clothes off.” I stared at him, licking my lips again, and shaking my head. This was a pretty good book. This is Kat and Dan's story. Kat is the last single member of the knitting group in this series. She is a shy, billionaire heiress with horrible family troubles. Dan is regular joe type guy from Boston who works for Quinn as a security specialist and is a friend to the knitting ladies. Kat and Dan have been attracted to each other ever since they met, but he was biding his time on making a move on her. While in Vegas for Janie and Quinn's bachelor/ette weekend, Kat has too much to drink and ends up praying to the porcelain gods with Dan holding her hair back. Nothing happens between them, but when they wake up the morning, Kat assumes the worst, that she had a blackout drunk one night stand like she used to in her teens. Dan sets her straight, but embarrassment and miscommunication keeps them from getting together and instead they begin avoiding each other. Now two years later, Kat, who has been living very simply and working an office job, is being threatened by her evil cousin. He is trying to take away her family's company from her by declaring her incompetent and mentally ill. (She is not mentally ill, but her mother was, and she had a period in her teens where she was not mentally healthy due to her father's treatment of her) In order to keep him from becoming her guardian, Kat decides she must get married in order to have her husband become her default guardian if her cousin gets his way. Dan immediately comes to mind because he is a good man and she trusts him. So, despite some trepidation, Kat asks him to marry her, he agrees to help her, then the fun begins. As the two spend time together, the truth comes out about their miscommunication and they start to fall for each other. They have a good bit to deal with together as Kat's cousin plays super dirty and Dan's criminal brother causes trouble too, but it all works out for them in the end.

I have to say, the miscommunication that kept Kat and Dan from getting together for two years was kind of silly to me. Who hears a drunk woman you have been attracted to/crushing on say "I am not very good at monogamy" and assume that means they are a polygamist? It seemed like a major misunderstanding and unnecessary angst, causing hurt for both Kat and Dan. Thankfully, the truth came out and it got cleared by at 38% so they could begin a real relationship.

Kat comes off like this perfect person, perfectly dressed and always calm on the outside. But on the inside, she is neurotic, always worrying, feeling guilty, and blaming herself for everything. I didn't dislike Kat, but I felt very bad her. She had so much internal struggle and made the simplest things difficult. It was exhausting at times being in her head. Because of her overthinking, it was hard for me to identify with her or feel a connection to her due to her obsessing over everything in her life and how unhappy it made her. This also made it hard for me to feel a lot of chemistry or connection between her and Dan because she was so insecure about their relationship. I liked them together though and knew they loved each other, in general. Dan was pretty great with her and very patient. I just felt like they never got to a really comfortable point and were still walking on eggshells with each other by the end. Their relationship was very slow burn, but it didn't bother me because I was so distracted by Kat and her issues. I liked the epilogue that gave a glimpse at life fifteen years in the future for the whole Knitting in the City gang. I did think it was a little anticlimactic way to end the series, though.

While I did enjoy this book, it isn't my favorite from this series. I just felt like it was missing something to take it from "liked it" to "loved it". Still, I was glad that Kat and Dan got their HEA. And also, that Kat got her due with her family's company, along with putting her cousin in his place and finding a new family with Dan's family. I am sad to see this fun series come to an end and I look forward to more from Ms. Reid in the future!

I have read most of these 1001 Dark Night Bundle books. I like that I can normally find several really good stories and new authors in each bundle. This one was no different. This bundled book was kind of a mixed bag for me. Some stories I really liked, but others not as much.

Here are my thoughts on each novella:

RAZR: A Demonica Novella by Larissa Ione: 3.75 stars. This was a good, sweet, quick read. I loved Jedda and Razr. The two were really cute together. No pushing away. Jedda being a gem elf was so different and creative. I loved that aspect. This was a great addition to the Demonica series, which is one of my fave PNRs. Overall, this was an entertaining read with some mystery and suspense.

ARRANGED: A Masters and Mercenaries Novella by Lexi Blake: 3.25-3.5 stars. This book was pretty good, but I didn't feel like it lived up to it's potential to be great. This is Dayita/Day and Kash's story. Kash was the second son of the King and Queen of Loa Mali. He was always more intellectual and dreamed of advancing sciences for the people of his country. He met and became good friends with Day at college. They both were developing feelings for each other when Kash's father and brother died in a car crash, thrusting him from a life of academia to becoming King unexpectedly. The pressures of becoming King changed Kash into a playboy douche, which only got worse after a national tragedy struck. After years of scandals and irresponsibility, his mother decides to invoke a clause in the constitution saying that if Kash didn't enter into a marriage she arranged, he would abdicate the thrown. Kash is angry at firs, but he is even more shocked to discover his arranged wife is Day. He had never forgotten Day over the years and he finds that she even tried to contact him and he, her, but that comminucation had been blocked by his mother. He is willing to give a marriage to Day a chance. But Day doesn't think playboy Kash can be faithful so she doesn't know if it will be a marriage of convenience or a real relationship. They have a lot to work out between them. Especially when Kash finds out that Day is a Domme. They go through a lot of conflict and hardship over that fact, only made worse when it becomes apparent that someone is trying to kill one of them. The security team, consisting of McKay-Taggart staff, takes them to Sanctum to keep them safe. Kash and Day end up working out their differences and make plans for a happy future together.

I really liked Day. She was a domme, but she was such a nurturing, loving and caring domme. She was warm, not cold and bitchy like most dommes I've read about. She was so strong and confident in who she was. Day was also extremely intelligent and hard working. She was willing to give up a lot for the sake of her country's future. Kash, on the other hand, started the book as a conceited jerk and only improved a little bit by the end. I never really grew to like him very much. He was a manwhore, having slept with hundreds of women, but he was a total hypocrite when he found out that Day was a domme. The idea of a King being a submissive was very clever. The pressure and stress from being an active King and head of a country really built up for Kash. He needed the release of giving over control to Day to help him relax. I really liked the idea. But Kash was so resistant and judgemental about the idea of being a sub (even though he liked it in the bedroom before he knew that he was being submissive). He said some very hurtful things to Day about her dominance, like calling her a whore, making her feel small, etc. I had a hard time and never really forgave him for his behavior.

This book was not what I was expecting. Most times novellas are short and sweet, but this one was pretty long for a novella and also very angsty. Kash and Day were fighting most of the book. I felt really bad for Day in the way that Kash treated her. It was heartbreaking. I definitely shed some tears and felt she deserved someone who cared for her more and treated her better. Kash never really apologized for his behavior either. He needed to grovel, but he didn't. When their big conflict
was being resolved, I felt it was too little, too late.

I did enjoy the storyline and catching up with the rest of the Sanctum gang. I especially liked Ian's part. He always gives great, frank relationship advice.

Overall, I liked parts of this book, but I didn't love it. I liked the way the book started out but liked it less and less as I read on. I still do love this series though and will continue to read more from Ms. Blake in the future.

TANGLED: A Dark Protectors-Reece Family Novella by Rebecca Zanetti: 3.75 stars. This was a great novella. This was Theo and Ginny's story. Despite starting off on the wrong foot, they were really good together and definitely felt meant to be. This was my first time reading this series and I definitely want to try again in the future.

HOLD ME: A Stark Ever After Novella by J. Kenner: 3.5 stars. This was a cute little novella. I have not read the Stark series so I wasn't aware of the couple's back story. This was more like a slice of life. There was no relationship drama in this married couple's life. Just a mom getting used to going back to work after having a baby and her husband being supportive. I was entertained!

DANGEROUS ATTRACTION by Sidney Bristol: 2 stars. This was a three part serial and it didn't really work for me. It was melodramatic and drawn out with lots of pushing away and back and forth. There were TSTL moments, plot holes, immature characters, too many internal thoughts and character contradictions. I never felt the love between the couple.

Overall, I do recommend this bundle of novellas. They definitely kept me entertained and were all different and interesting in their own ways. I love these anthologies and have found some great new authors in them!

 This was a good book! This book is book one in the Transcend duet. It is very mysterious and we aren't sure what is going on throughout the book.

This is Swayze's story. She is twenty-one year old woman who is dating a really great guy, Griffin (aka Grocery Store Guy, because she met him at the grocery store). But her life changes dramatically when she meets Nate in the waiting room at her shrink's office. When she meets Nate, unexplainably, she knows him. She knows everything about him and all of his memories going back to early childhood. He is a 35 year old man. There is no way she could know all of these things about him from before she was even born. She is confused, thinking she knows him somehow, but he doesn't know her. So she tries to shrug off their meeting and go on. But she arrives to interview for a job as a nanny for an infant baby, only to discover it is Nate's house. Nate is a single father whose wife died in childbirth. Swayze is confused by her memories, but she tries to ignore them, and she gets the job. As she babysits for Nate's baby, strange things happen. Her memories continue and grow stronger until she can't help but tell Nate about them. He is skeptical at first, but as time goes on, he starts to think something else is happening. Nate thinks that Swayze is reincarnated from his childhood best friend and first love, Daisy, who died when he was fourteen. Nothing is made clear and we are left with so many questions. Everything is mysterious and unpredictable. Hopefully all will be made clear in book two of the duet, Epoch.

I liked all three of the main characters- Nate, Griffin and Swayze. This is kind of a love triangle, but kind of not. Swayze really loves her boyfriend Griffin with her whole heart and sees forever with him, but she feels a strong connection and friendship to Nate. Her relationship with Griff is a young, angsty one. They both have some immature moments. But I liked them both and don't want to see either of them hurt. Nothing has happened romantically between Nate and Swayze, but they are growing closer. She knows everything about him and I can see how that would develop into more. Nate sees his first love, Daisy, in Swayze, and I'm afraid he can't see and appreciate her for herself. Swayze adores Nate's baby, Morgan. Her memories make her feel things for Nate that the bearer of the memories felt. We are left questioning if reincarnation is possible, but it is too soon to tell what is going on.

This book does end on a cliffhanger, but not one that I was expecting. As a writer, Ms. Ann is not afraid to shake things up, and even kill off main characters in some of her books, so I was on edge throughout the book. Everyone survives, but I can't even imagine what is in store for us in Epoch and how everything will be wrapped up into an HEA for Swayze. Overall, this was an engrossing, mysterious, suspenseful, angsty, emotional and funny read! I was totally sucked into the story and I can not wait for Epoch!

She didn’t protest as his tongue swept in to play with hers. He hauled her up so her feet were dangling. It was the only way to get her pussy where he wanted it. He rubbed himself against her. She rounded the table and leaned over. He couldn’t help but notice she wasn’t wearing a bra. If he leaned in a bit, he could see the curve of her breasts and the faintest hint of nipple. “Eyes up, mister,” she ordered in what he’d come to think of as her “drill sergeant” voice. His eyes obediently came up. He’d learned when it was in his best interests to obey her immediately. His baby was one tough cookie, and he was man enough to admit he needed her to be that way. He would walk all over her otherwise. That would make for one boring relationship. Rachel kept him on his toes. “Sorry, baby.” He would try to distract her with charm. He had some of that. He smiled and pulled her hand into his. He tugged her down onto his lap. “I can’t help it. I get distracted by your breasts. They’re pretty. And I’m really, really horny. We haven’t had sex in days. It’s killing me.” She rolled her eyes and sighed. Her arms went around his neck. “You just had surgery. You haven’t even had the stitches out yet. The doctor said we should wait a few days.” “It’s been almost a week.” He put a little whine in his voice. Maybe if she thought he was simply horny, she would forget her suspicions. It was imperative that she not figure out what he had done after she’d gone to sleep. “I promise I could be super still. I would lie perfectly still, and you could do all the work.” She grinned. It did strange things to his heart. “That sounds tempting. I’ll call the doctor today, and I’ll see if we can get him to let you off the leash.” She kissed his cheek. She got up and went to the stove, where she poured out pancake batter. Max relaxed. She rounded on him suddenly. “You’re sure you’re not planning something terrible?” She knew him far too well. He grimaced inwardly. This was where Rye would come in handy. Rye could distract her. Rachel was far too much woman for one man. He needed his brother because Max had figured out that a tag team approach was required when Rachel got saucy. But he was all on his own now. He didn’t like the feeling. “Baby, I’m planning on doing some light work around the barn. I’m going to spend some time with Sunflower, and then I’ll have Rye drive me into Del Norte for my checkup. That’s my plan.” It was true. It was part of his plan. He didn’t mention the stop he intended to make. Her eyes narrowed, and he wondered briefly if she could make that spatula into a weapon. He thought she probably could. Max sighed. He could make it into one, too. He could pull her over his lap and shove those boxers off her hips, then spank that pert rear. He wouldn’t hurt her. He’d simply get her bottom all pink and pretty. He’d rather use his hand, though. “You have crazy eyes today, Max. What did you just think?” she asked breathlessly. Rye stood in the doorway. He had on jeans and a T-shirt. His hair was still wet from his shower. “He was wondering how you would handle it if he pulled you across his lap and spanked you with your spatula. You should use your hand, Max. It would be better.” Rachel’s mouth fell open. She looked between the two of them like she was trying to figure out what to say. Max pointed at Rye. “He said it.” Rye shrugged. “He was thinking it.” “So were you.” Rye’s face fell. Max saw him look down at the crotch of his jeans. “Damn it.” Rye turned and walked back down the hall. Max knew exactly where he was going. “What’s wrong with him?” She looked concerned as his brother marched off. Max smiled broadly. Rye had done his job. She wasn’t thinking about his potential plans anymore. She set a plate in front of him. “I guess he’s not hungry,” Max lied. His brother was hungry, all right. He’d been hungry since the minute he laid eyes on Rachel.

This was a great reread for me of Max, Rye and Rachel's story. Rachel is on the run. A man she dated once, who happens to be a shady cop, is stalking her and threatening her. He went so far as to kill her pet and burn down her house. While on the run, Rachel's car breaks down in the kooky town of Bliss, Colorado. She finds a home there and gets a job, deciding to stay. Max and Rye are twins that live in the town. They have always had shared relationships with women, dating as a threesome, but they have had bad luck with women and are giving up their dream of finding a wife together. When Rachel meets Max, Rye is out of town, and she has no idea Max is a twin who usually dates with his brother. Max and Rachel fall for each other pretty quickly. When Rye comes back to town, he feels left out, but he plans on letting Max be happy with Rachel as a couple. She doesn't want to trust Rye at first, because he is a cop like her ex. But when her stalker finds her, the men find out about her past and vow to protect her. Rachel falls for Rye along the way and they all get their happy threeway HEA.

I originally read this book in 2015. This version is an extended version with two new chapters and additional new content. I liked this book and rated it 3.5 stars the first time I read it, but I liked it even more with the new content (even though I have no idea what was added or changed). I loved Max, Rye, and Rachel. They all fit together perfectly. This book is so funny and different, never taking itself too seriously. I love the town of Bliss and it's quirky townfolk. This quick, easy read was a great start to the Bliss series. Overall, I definitely recommend this funny, sweet and sexy book!

This was a really good book! There were parts that pissed me off but it made me feel strong emotions and I was engrossed in the story. Stone is book one in the Stone Cold Fox trilogy. This is Ivy and Levi's story. Ivy is Hollywood actress and movie star. She is in the small town of Cold, Montana to film a big movie based on a true story that took place there. She is playing the part of Grace, a police woman who solved a case unraveling the mystery of serial killer killing young women in their small town. Grace was killed by the serial killer. The townspeople are happy to have the movie crew in their town memorializing her, and happy to share what they know about Grace and the case. All except for Levi Stone. He was Grace's police partner and he is angry at life, but especially angry that Ivy is there thinking she can do justice to the kind of person Grace was. The police chief names him as liaison for the movie crew, especially to Ivy. He is supposed to answer questions about the case and make sure everything is portrayed correctly. But he hates this job. He judges Ivy before he even knows her and treats her awfully. They spend more and more time together and start to develop feelings for each other, but things are very complicated between them throughout the book.

The story unfolds in a very mysterious way. There are a lot of questions that are unanswered and, even at the end of this book, we are left with more and more questions. We know that Grace was killed by a serial killer that she was investigating, who turned out to be the town doctor and coroner. But we don't know much more than that. There are some clues, but no clear picture yet. A few things point to the fact that Levi may have had a romantic relationship with or feelings towards Grace, but we don't know for sure yet. 

This book is different than most of Max Monroe's funny, sexy rom-coms. It is angsty, emotional and suspenseful. I really loved Ivy. She is awesome- a funny, sarcastic, sweet and very real type person. Think Emma Stone. She was serious about her job and that was pretty much all she thought about. Levi, I liked at times , but he pissed me off a lot. He was a very unhappy, messed up person. The death of his police partner and good friend, Grace, really messed him up. He has a huge chip on his shoulder and he hates Ivy on sight. He unfairly judged her and treated her really poorly. He starts to see that Ivy is actually a great person, but he continues to treat her badly. She can see that he is really hurting and she is sympathetic. They have an attraction and share a few kisses (but that's it in this book), only for Levi to pull away again. I understood his behavior because it is obvious he is still wrecked by Grace's death and the movie has made all of his feelings come back tenfold. So I forgave him and thought he was starting to maybe open up to Grace a little. But he does something that is nearly a dealbreaker for me at the end of the book.  It is really heartbreaking to read how much that hurts Ivy. It made me really hurt for her. It will be very hard for him to come back from that for me. I am not sure if I can forgive that without some epic grovel. This book does end with a cliffhanger and I was not very happy with how it ended. I really hope that is resolved quickly and done away with soon in the next book. Still, I can't wait to read the next two books in the series because I'm really rooting for these two to get an HEA. 

Overall, I liked this book a lot. Stone was emotional, sexy, funny, and suspenseful. There's a lot of good stuff going on in this book, despite a few piss-me-off-moments. I loved the matchy names of Levi and Ivy. I adored Ivy's character. The pace was fast moving and mysterious. I was totally engrossed in the story of Ivy and Levi. I can not wait to find out the rest of their story in Cold and Fox!

With every new thing he shared, Caine felt like a thin filament stretched between them, anchoring them together. The connection between them was growing, strengthening. He could feel it like he’d never felt anything before.

He was getting attached. To that feeling. To Emma herself.

But right now, he had it. He had her. And he wanted her…

“Stand up, Emma.” The questions in her gaze quickly shifted to understanding, and she rose above him. His hands went to her waistband and quickly bared her. Caine pulled her until she stood with her feet on either side of him where he sat leaning against the front of the couch. “I want my mouth on you again.”

The moan that spilled out of her at the first swipe of his tongue went right to his cock. He unzipped his jeans and shoved them down his thighs. Then he held her open with his thumbs so that her clit was right where he wanted it to be. He sucked and flicked and nipped until she was thrusting against his face. He groaned his approval. Her hips became more frantic. “Caine,” she cried hoarsely, her knees going out such that she nearly collapsed into his lap, still shaking.

This was a good quick read. This novella is Caine and Emma's story. Caine is in the Raven Riders MC. He is a quiet guy with a bad past who holds himself back from letting others get close to him, including his brothers. Emma is a kindergarten teacher, sweet and bubbly, but lonely. One night, Caine happens upon Emma getting mugged and runs off her attacker. Later, Emma makes cookies to thank him. She likes Caine, but he thinks he isn't worthy of her because he has a lot of past baggage. Still, he wants to watch out for her so he often drives by her house. It is soon apparent that someone is stalking her and that her mugging was not random. Caine begins protecting Emma and, as the two spend time together, they fall for each other.

This was a good story, but I think it was a bit much to fit into a novella. Caine had a lot of emotional angst over his past. The book was sweet and short and it all wrapped up a little too easily. I needed more resolution on how he got over his issues, which could have been fleshed out more if the book were longer. But, overall, I did enjoy this book. I liked Caine and Emma. I thought she was just what he needed to lighten his life up. They were a good couple.

Overall, this is an emotional, sweet and sexy read. I am sad to see this series end as I have really enjoyed the Raven Riders. I look forward to more from Laura Kaye in the future!
