Kiss the Girl
by Tara Sivec

Blurb:

A struggling antiques collector finds herself falling in love with a millionaire playboy; but can she ever be a part of his world?

Meet the Naughty Princess Club, a series from USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec that brings readers to Fairytale Lane and the hilarity—and romance—that three women fall into once they decide to strut their stuff and bring on their own happily ever after.

While her friends have broken free of their insecurities, Ariel Waters is struggling to come out of her shell. Her ex-husband took away her voice and her self-confidence, and Ariel is drowning under a sea of debt to afford the alimony she has to pay him. She refuses to ever fall for a man’s charms again, and is determined to make her own way.

When her house and her beloved antiques are taken by the bank after too many missed payments, Ariel finds herself adrift until the infuriatingly charming Eric Sailor comes to her rescue. Although she can’t stand the millionaire playboy, Eric’s kindness and unconditional support reveal hidden depths and a love that Ariel never imagined she could find.

But there are outside influences who will stop at nothing to keep them apart; can Ariel and Eric weather the storm and find a way to be together?

Review:

3.75-4 stars
****

This was a really cute and refreshing book! I was a little weary going into Kiss the Girl. The Disney princess theme could have turned out cheesy and sometimes the humor in Ms. Sivec's books is a little OTT and potty humor-esque. But I was pleasantly surprised and happy I gave this book a try!

This is Ariel and Eric's story. Ariel went through a bad divorce from her ex that left her broke. She and her two friends, Belle and Cindy, started the Naughty Princess Club to make money. They started a mobile-stripping business dressed as Disney princesses. The business is still getting off the ground and not making money yet. Also, Ariel's self esteem is in tatters from her ex's treatment and she finds herself so broke she loses her home. Eric is a businessman and friend of Belle and Cindy's boyfriends. He is interested in Ariel from the moment he meets her and he offers to let her stay on a yacht he owns, which is next door to the yacht he lives on. That leads to friendship and then romance between Ariel and Eric.

Kiss the Girl was a fun read! At first, I wasn't sure if I liked Ariel. She seemed very negative and mean to everyone. But it soon became clear why she acted that way and her attitude improved. I ended up liking her a lot. She was spunky and funny. Eric, I liked from the get-go. He was a perfect hero. He adored Ariel. There were so many subtle (and some obvious) Little Mermaid references. I loved that the story was not an exact modernized copy, but more of a loose interpretation. I thought the Little Mermaid theme was so cute and funny, without being OTT silly. This was an easy, low angst read, too. I never doubted Eric's love for Ariel from the moment they got together. They were definitely made for each other.

Overall, Kiss the Girl was a fun, entertaining read! I will definitely go back and read the first two books in the series, as I loved the glimpses I got of the other two couples. I look forward to reading more from the Naughty Princess Club in the future!
