When I was fifteen, a single bullet changed my life. I spent the next decade trying to outrun the devastation of my past, building an empire that would shield me from whatever life could throw at me.

But all the money in the world couldn’t help me when I found a screaming newborn abandoned on my doorstep.

I’d never wanted to be a father. Passing the sludge that ran through my veins down to an innocent child seemed like a tragedy. But there she was—pink cheeks, red hair, and mine.
Somehow, against all logic, that little girl became the best thing that ever happened to me. It was impossible to stay lost in the past when I was the only one who could protect her future.
Which is exactly why, when her mother came back four years later, I was ready for battle.
If only I could stop myself from falling in love with her during the war.

REVIEW:

4 stars
****

Written with You is book two in the Regret duet and the conclusion to the couple's story. I enjoyed the way everything wrapped up in this book. At the end of book one, where we met Caven and Hadley, we are left on a huge cliffhanger and we don't know what is happening or who to believe. That surprise is clarified quickly in this book, but there is much to be resolved in the story still. I can't go into any detail about the story as this book has some big twists and turns, but I was thoroughly satisfied with the conclusion to the story.

This book is a little tough to review without spoiling it. This is a fast paced, hard to put down, angsty story. I was shocked and surprised at times, but I also enjoyed the emotional story, the sweet and sexy moments between the couple, the heartbreak and the joy between them. I really loved this pair and felt they were a perfect match, soulmates who were meant to be together. I enjoyed the way their relationship progressed. It was tested (and I cried), but they came out stronger for all they went through in the end. Everything turned out the way it was supposed to and everyone got what they deserved. I enjoyed their little girl, Rosalee's character, too. She was adorable. They all made a cute, happy family. I did want a few more happy times mixed in with the heart ache, but I still enjoyed it. I also think it would have been a bit better reading the books directly back to back, as splitting them up loses some of the momentum.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I enjoyed this entire duet a lot. The story was memorable, emotional, sweet, sexy, and suspenseful. I will be thinking about these characters for a long time to come. I look forward to more from Ms. Martinez in the future!

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and olives. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.
She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
