For years, he was a part of my life. I watched him rush to the hospital countless times, his beautiful surgeon hands racing to save lives.
After all this time, I can’t escape the truth.
I want Dr. Lowe.
Lust chokes each moment we’re together. He promises to fulfill my fantasies—every dirty, naughty desire we can dream up.
Only, I can’t have him.
He’s confident. Experienced. Seductive.
And he’s my ex-boyfriend’s father.

About the Author: Nikki Sloane landed in graphic design after her careers as a waitress, a screenwriter, and a ballroom dance instructor fell through. For eight years she worked for a design firm in that extremely tall, black, and tiered building in Chicago that went through an unfortunate name change during her time there. Now she lives in Kentucky and manages a team of graphic artists. She is a member of the Romance Writers of America, is married with two sons, writes dirty books, and couldn’t be any happier.

New Release: Clean to the Bone by Heather R. Blair

Clean to the Bone
by Heather R. Blair

It's not every day a sexy Aussie art thief steals into Charlotte Gracen’s spare bedroom in the middle of the night. But when Jake Harris does just that, bleeding and full of ominous warnings about the men banging down Charlie’s door searching for him, the reclusive artist makes a choice.

That choice will save Jake's life and entangle her in his lifelong mission to find the man who killed his mother. Charlie is cast head-long into a dazzling and dangerous world where art, beauty and talent can win her everything her heart desires—or slice her soul right down to the bone.

Review:

4 stars
****

This is a good book. Heather R. Blair writes one of my favorite paranormal romance series. Clean to the Bone is her first book in the romantic suspense genre. It felt very different from her paranormal books, but I enjoyed it!

This is Jake and Charlie's story. Charlie is a reclusive artist, living alone and working as an accountant. Jake, an Australian art thief, literally crashes into Charlie's life (and her window) and her world is never the same again. Some bad guys are after him and he's been shot so their relationship begins by Charlie helping him recover in her home. After that, Charlie gets wrapped up in Jake and his twin sister's world of art, intrigue and excitement. That's all I can say about the story so I don't give too much away.

The story is suspenseful, intricate and intriguing The book was fast paced and cinematic. It took awhile for the romance to get going for me, but I was entertained in the meantime. I liked Jake and Charlie. Jake is charming and I loved the way he adored her. Charlie is quirky and funny. I enjoyed the way their relationship developed. I loved the art world aspect and the fun side characters. There is an over-arching series storyline that will continue in the next book in the series. I'm definitely curious as to how the story will go.

Overall, this was a great start to a fun, romantic suspense series! I look forward to more from Ms. Blair in the future!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright, Donna Grant, Lorelei James, Lauren Blakely, and introducing T. Gephart.

Five Dark Tales. Five Sensual Stories. Five Page Turners.

BLADE: A Bayou Heat Novella by Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright Blade was held captive by Benson Enterprises and abused for decades. When he’s finally rescued, he can’t return to the Wildlands. Not without the female he was forced to watch being impregnated. Valli just wants to run away and never look back. But with the shocking news of her pregnancy fresh in her mind, she wonders if that’s even possible. Told by her captors that one of the caged animals assaulted her, she knows she must do everything in her power to keep her unborn child safe.

DRAGON BURN: A Dark Kings Novella by Donna Grant A promise made eons ago sends Sebastian to Italy on the hunt to find an enemy. His quarry proves difficult to locate, but there is someone who can point him in the right direction – a woman as frigid as the north. Using every seductive skill he’s acquired over his immortal life, his seduction begins. Until he discovers that the passion he stirs within her makes him burn for more… Gianna Santini has one love in her life – work. That is until a handsome Scot strolled into her life and literally swept her off her feet.

TRIPPED OUT: A Blacktop Cowboys® Novella by Lorelei James Stirling Gradsky abandoned the corporate rat race for a more laidback lifestyle. So it’s ironic she’s stuck working with a hard-bodied, know-it-all scientist who treats her like a stoner instead of a stone cold business woman capable of running a large scale cannabis operation. Dr. Liam Argent’s doctorate isn’t in chemistry, but from the moment he meets his sexy new coworker, there’s enough heat between them to short out all the lights in the grow house. Sparks fly as their attraction blazes. But can they weed out their differences without getting burned?

STUD FINDER by Lauren Blakely Man seeking woman: Hot, rich, smart, witty, self-made multimillionaire Internet genius seeks classy, intelligent, sexy, fun-loving woman who’s interested in settling down and sharing all the good things. There. Best. Ad. Ever. I will absolutely find the woman of my dreams, someone who’ll love me for me. Let me just hit the upload button right now… * * * * No. Just no. As a woman and a professional matchmaker, I can’t let Dylan Parker run this ad. He’s the catch of all catches. What woman in her right mind wouldn’t fall in love with Dylan? I mean, besides me. It totally won’t be me.

#1 CRUSH by T. Gephart Tia Monroe was smart, sassy and successful. Sure, she could get a little crazy at times, but that was part of her appeal. And while she didn’t see herself as ‘classically beautiful’, she had no shortage of options in the boyfriend department. She just hadn’t found one who held her interest. Until she laid eyes on Eric Larsson, and then it was lust at first sight. He packed the perfect mix of smoldering sexy and unapologetic cool into his blond-haired, blue-eyed, ridiculously hot six-foot-four frame. One smile from him was enough to twist her insides. But it wasn’t just his looks, he was smart and funny—charming in the most a-dork-able way. The only problem was…Tia had never actually met him.

Every Dark Nights tale is breathtakingly sexy and magically romantic.

REVIEW:

4 stars
****

I have read most of these 1001 Dark Night Bundle books. I like that I can normally find several really good stories and new authors in each bundle. This one was no different. Lots of good stuff packed into this bundle!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright, Donna Grant, Lorelei James, Lauren Blakely, and introducing T. Gephart.

BLADE: A Bayou Heat Novella by Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright

3 stars. I have read a few books from this series and I enjoyed them. This story was only okay for me though. I found it slow moving, a bit cheesy, and I did not fully connect with the characters. Still, I do like this series and the world building so I probably will read more in the future.

DRAGON BURN: A Dark Kings Novella by Donna Grant

3.5 stars. This was a pretty good addition to this series. I liked the story as well as the characters, but I did feel it was a bit slow moving and drawn out. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger on the over-arching series storyline, which I didn't love either. I would have liked a further glance into the couple's future. Still, I enjoy the world building in this series, the dragon shifters and the Venice setting in this book. I was entertained and I look forward to more from this series in the future!

TRIPPED OUT: A Blacktop Cowboys® Novella by Lorelei James

4 stars. I really enjoyed this novella. I admit I was a little skeptical about a romance between a dread locked heroine and a nerdy, scientist hero. But I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. I really liked Stirling and Liam. They were a great couple and I definitely felt the love between them. Their relationship grew from prankster co-workers who didn't get along to friends to lovers. I really enjoyed their awesome chemistry and how easy they fit together. They were sexy and fun. I also enjoyed the legal marijuana field they worked in as it was interesting and different. Overall, this was a good book! I am looking forward to more from this series and Ms. James in the future!

STUD FINDER by Lauren Blakely

3.5 stars. This was a cute little book. This is Dylan and Evie's book. Evie is a professional matchmaker, too busy running her business to have a relationship. One of her clients and a new friend, Olivia, has a brother, Dylan. Dylan is a slightly-nerdy, millionaire Internet tech guy who is ready to settle down. He cluelessly puts out a personal ad and mentions his millionaire status, which promptly gets him hundreds of non-quality replies. Olivia asks Evie to help Dylan find the perfect woman in a less techy way. So Evie meets with Dylan and gets to know him to help find out what the perfect woman for him would be. But as they spend more time together, both find out the perfect person for them is each other.

This book is a sweet, funny, easy read. It wasn't especially original or anything I haven't read before. The characters could have had a little more depth. I didn't feel a strong connection to them. I did like them though. Overall, I enjoyed this book for a good, light read!

#1 CRUSH by T. Gephart

4 stars. This was such a fun book! I was very pleasantly surprised by this story. I had not read anything by this author or had really even heard of her so I had no idea what to expect. This story ended up being so cute, sweet and funny. Girl meets and falls in love with her movie star crush. Their relationship was so fun, sexy and easy. There was very little angst and the humor was not OTT or silly. The relationship development was very sweet and natural. I really like Tia's quirkiness and the way Erik adored her. This was a good read and I will definitely look for more from this author in the future!

Overall, I do recommend this bundle of novellas. They definitely kept me entertained and were all different and interesting in their own ways. I love these anthologies and have found some great new authors in them!

About the 1001 Dark Nights Bundle Authors:

Alexandra Ivy is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. From Alexandra: “I’m not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother’s knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on. Years later (no, I’m not admitting how many) I’m still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold! I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

Laura Wright is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. From Laura: “Unlike many of my peers in the writing world, I wasn’t a writer or a reader until I left high school. During my youth I was into theater, song and dance, commercials and boys. I loved romance surely, but I had never read a romance novel until my late teens. With that said, I remember the day I did like it was a moment ago – my aunt gave me the Jude Deveraux novel, Knight in Shining Armor and I couldn’t put it down until the very last word. Then I went straight to the library and got another – then another until I’d read everything she’d ever written. After that, it was McNaught, Howard, Schone, Kleypas, and the Silhouette line, Desire. I instantly loved those emotional, sexy reads, so much so that I began to carve out ideas for my own stories, themes that were unique to me and moved me. In 1997 I enrolled in UCLA extension writing classes, met my mentor and critique partners and since have never stopped writing. I was committed then and I still am now; the need to tell my own romantic stories a full on obsession. My first manuscript was rejected, and though the second one was as well the editor who’d rejected it wanted to see something else from me. I had something (note to authors; always keep working, even after you’ve sent in a proposal) and sent it right away. The day I got the call telling me Desire wanted to buy Cinderella and the Playboy was the best day of my life. That is until I married my husband, and had my two beautiful children. But I must say, writing is much like motherhood – tough, grueling, surprising, delicious and for me, a dream come true.”

Lorelei James is the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of contemporary erotic western romances set in the modern day Wild West and also contemporary erotic romances. Lorelei’s books have been nominated for and won the Romantic Times Reviewer’s choice Award, as well as the CAPA Award. Lorelei lives in western South Dakota with her family…and a whole closet full of cow girl boots. From Lorelei: “Why do I have a particular fondness for all things western? Well, I’m a fourth generation South Dakotan, living in the Black Hills, which is chock-full of interesting characters, including cowboys, Indians, ranchers, and bikers. The geographical diversity of the surrounding area showcases mountains, plains, and badlands. Living in and writing about rural settings gives me a unique perspective, especially since I’m not writing historical westerns. Through my fictional world, I can show the ideals and the cowboy way of life are still very much alive.”

About T. Gephart: T Gephart is an indie author from Melbourne, Australia. T’s approach to life has been somewhat unconventional. Rather than going to University, she jumped on a plane to Los Angeles, USA in search of adventure. While this first trip left her somewhat underwhelmed and largely depleted of funds it fueled her appetite for travel and life experience. With a rather eclectic resume, which reads more like the fiction she writes than an actual employment history, T struggled to find her niche in the world. While on a subsequent trip the United States in 1999, T met and married her husband. Their whirlwind courtship and interesting impromptu convenience store wedding set the tone for their life together, which is anything but ordinary. They have lived in Louisiana, Guam and Australia and have travelled extensively throughout the US. T has two beautiful young children and one four legged child, Woodley the wonder dog. An avid reader, T became increasingly frustrated by the lack of strong female characters in the books she was reading. She wanted to read about a woman she could identify with, someone strong, independent and confident who didn’t lack femininity. Out of this need, she decided to pen her first book, A Twist of Fate. She enjoyed the process so much that when it was over she couldn’t let it go. T loves to travel, laugh and surround herself with colourful characters. This inevitably spills into her writing and makes for an interesting journey – she is well and truly enjoying the ride! Based on her life experiences, T has plenty of material for her books and has a wealth of ideas to keep you all enthralled.

Cover Reveal: Respect by Jay Crownover

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jay Crownover, comes the next title in her The Breaking Point romantic suspense series, RESPECT. Don’t miss the amazing cover below, and pre-order your copy today!

Cover designed By Hang Le

About RESPECT:

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who called a corrupt kingdom home sweet home.

Protected and sheltered from the worst the world had to offer, she fell in love with the crumbling city that burned and blazed around her. Every dirty corner, every scary shadow, found a place within her heart. So did a man who was violent and dangerous, just like the streets she claimed as her own.

He was all business and brutality, except when it came to her. With her, he was calm, caring, and heartbreakingly patient.

He warned her over and over that he wasn't the man for her, but she refused to listen. She never expected either the streets or their enforcer to hurt her, since she'd given her heart so completely to both.

She should have known the streets in the Point were always going to be savage, and so was the man committed to keeping control of them in the hands of criminals and bloody kingpins.

Blindsided by a betrayal which cut so deeply she was sure the wounds would never heal, the princess fled the home she loved and the man who broke her heart. Throwing away her rusted, twisted crown was supposed to help her forget. All it did was make her long for everything she left behind. She told herself she would never go back, but in this tormented kingdom, family is everything. Eventually, she has no choice but to return.

While she was gone, the people who loved her worked hard to make the city safe, and the man who destroyed her sank deeper into the darkness. Going back shouldn't feel like surrender... but it does. As this pretty princess hovers on the edge of the unknown, the past attacks with a vengeance. It's a good reminder that puppy love eventually grows up and turns into something with sharp teeth and one hell of a bite.

She never asked for the keys to the kingdom. She'd much rather go out and build her own.

RESPECT is coming August 7, 2018! Pre-order your copy today!

Review: I Think I Love You by Lauren Layne

I Think I Love You
by Lauren Layne

A game of seduction between two best friends goes deliciously wrong in an irresistible Oxford Novel that brims with wit and sexual tension. Library Journal hails Layne’s work as exemplary contemporary romance.”

Brit Robbins knows that dating in New York City is hard—she just hoped to have it mastered by age thirty. But after yet another promising suitor says they have no sparks, Brit decides it’s time to torch her dating game and try a new plan. And who better to coach Brit through the art of seduction than the guy who first gave her the “let’s be friends” card?

Hunter Cross has always figured there’s nothing his best friend Brit can do to surprise him. But Brit’s request is a surprise he doesn’t see coming—and one he’s definitely not prepared for. Hunter and Brit have always been careful to keep things perfectly platonic, but the fake dates and faux flirting are starting to feel like the real deal. And soon Hunter realizes he has taught Brit too well. Not only has she become an expert at seduction, the man becoming thoroughly seduced is him.

Review:

3.5 stars

***

This was a pretty good read for me. This is a friends to lovers story between Brit and Hunter. Hunter dates a lot and women trip over themselves for him, but never seriously because he plans on leaving the city to move back to the country where he is from and his family lives. Brit wants a relationship and is pretty and the full package but guys always seem to friend-zone her after a date or two. So she goes to her best friend, Hunter, for him to teach her how to be sexier or how to get guys to consider her as more than a friend. As they spend time together "fake dating", they start thinking of each other as more than friends and eventually fall for each other.

I did feel like their relationship progression from friends to lovers was pretty good and believable. Neither of them had crushed on each other before or ever considered each other romantically, but found they had chemistry once they put themselves in "fake date" situations. They don't kiss until 65%, so there is a believable build up to romance between them.

I was bothered by a few things. I wasn't sure Hunter really appreciated Brit or realized what he had with her until the very end and it felt like a little too late. I really liked Brit. She was an awesome, giving friend, if a bit of a push over. When the big conflict came, I wanted Hunter to realize what he was giving up in her and express more profusely how much he loved her. He got what he wanted a little too easily and Brit was the one to compromise to make their relationship work. So, I liked Hunter, but I didn't love him.

But, overall, I did like this story, even if I didn't totally love it. It kept me entertained. I like Brit and Hunter and felt they were a good match. This was my first read by Lauren Layne and I would read more from her in the future.

New Release: The Accidentals by Sarina Bowen + Review and Excerpt!

The Accidentals
by Sarina Bowen

Release date: July 10th

SUMMARY

A YA novel from USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen.

Never ask a question unless you’re sure you want the truth.

I’ve been listening to my father sing for my whole life. I carry him in my pocket on my mp3 player. It’s just that we’ve never met face to face.

My mother would never tell me how I came to be, or why my rock star father and I have never met. I thought it was her only secret. I was wrong.

When she dies, he finally appears. Suddenly I have a first class ticket into my father’s exclusive world. A world I don’t want any part of – not at this cost.

Only three things keep me going: my a cappella singing group, a swoony blue-eyed boy named Jake, and the burning questions in my soul.
There’s a secret shame that comes from being an unwanted child. It drags me down, and puts distance between me and the boy I love.

My father is the only one alive who knows my history. I need the truth, even if it scares me.

EXCERPT:

After the last course—chocolate mousse—the three of us go tripping back across the cold lawn in the dark, Aurora in the lead. I’m the tiniest bit tipsy and wearing heels. So naturally I stumble on a frozen clod of snow and nearly fall. But Jake catches my hand to steady me. “Thanks,” I breathe.
Curiously, his warm fingers remain curled around mine until we reached the door of Habernacker.
I try not to feel ridiculously excited about it.
He lets go when we all reach the third floor. When Aurora opens the door, he follows us inside until we all collapse on the S.L.O., with me in the center.
“Oh! I forgot to steal my plate,” I realize.
“Me too.” Aurora sighs.
Jake reaches into his jacket and pulls out a plate.
“Well done, Mr. Jake!” Aurora laughs. “The party in the annex starts in fifteen minutes.” She heaves herself off the squishy couch. “I have time to redo my makeup.”
I watch her walk over to the stereo, where my phone is already ensconced, and turn on our Christmas playlist. Then she grabs her makeup bag off her desk and leaves the room.
When the door clicks shut, neither Jake nor I speak for a moment. The low chords of a Straight No Chaser song play through our little speakers.
Suddenly, it’s awkward. We’ve been circling each other for a while now—since the night he was trying to be nice and I wrecked it.
“You’re probably sick of a cappella by now,” I say, just to find something to talk about.
But Jake turns slowly toward me and says something unexpected. “Rachel, I need to ask you a question.”
My stomach does a little flip flop, and I turn to face those blue eyes I love so much. “What?” I whisper.
“Well…” He clears his throat. There is a very long pause, during which I hold my breath. “Will you come skiing some time?”
I exhale. “I guess so?” Another beat of silence passes. “That was your big question?” I ask, feeling like I’ve missed something.
His color deepens. “Well, no. I just…” His brow furrows, as if he’s trying to explain some point of astronomy. I love his look of concentration. I’ve missed it.
Jake’s blue eyes lock on mine, and I see how our own orbits might finally collide. This time, I will not send the moment winging back into space. Instead, I lean an almost imperceptible degree in his direction.
And that’s all it takes.
Reaching up, Jake cups his hand to the side of my face. I’m still processing the sweet touch of his fingers when he leans in farther, his lips brushing the sensitive corner of my mouth. His eyes are tentative, seeking permission. My heart thuds with expectation.
And then—finally—Jake kisses me for real. We come together the way a well-timed drummer kicks into the chorus of a song—swiftly, and without hesitation.
We broke apart a moment later, eyeing each other while I try not to smile. “Can I do that again?” he asks, his voice rough. “That was my real question.”
“Well, since you asked so nicely…”
Jake makes a low noise of approval, then draws me closer. I reach up for the back of his
neck, my fingers grazing that golden patch of skin I’ve always wanted to touch. He kisses me again, his arm finding the velvet waist of my dress and encircling me.
My heart flutters, but not from fear. Warm lips tease mine gently apart. And when his tongue tangles with mine, I lose myself.
He tastes like champagne. Everything is wild and sweet, until the moment Aurora’s voice rings out. “Ay, caramba!”
I feel an unwelcome rush of cool air between us as Jake retreats.
“I did say I was going into the bathroom, right? And not on a trip to Fiji?”
Neither of us says a word; we only look sheepishly at Aurora.
“Just to be clear, now I’m ducking into the bedroom for my coat, which only takes a second.” She steps into the bedroom, and I hear the rustling of fabric. Then she peers dramatically around the door frame. “Good listening! Now I’m going to the party. Will I see you both there? Don’t answer that. We’ll speak later.”
Jake laughs. “Sorry, Aurora.”
“I’ve seen worse.” She departs, the door closing behind her.
And now I’m self-conscious. Rising, I decide to fiddle with the music playlist. “Do you want to go to the party?”
“I’ll go. But I’m not great at parties. It’s all shouting over the music, drinking warm beer out of a plastic cup.”
“Then let’s not.” My fingers shake as I adjust the volume. I go back over to the sofa and sit down.
“So.” He clears his throat. “Where are you going for break?” As he asks, he takes one of my hands in his, massaging my palm with his thumb.
His light touch is so distracting that I almost forget to answer. “Kansas City,” I manage. “To meet my grandfather for the very first time.”
“Um, what?” He squeezes my hand.
So I tell Jake the embarrassing highlights of my weird story—that I hadn’t met Frederick until this past summer.
“Wow. I’m sorry,” he says.
“Don’t be.”
“I guess I’m not that offended now that you wouldn’t introduce me. If the normal waiting period is seventeen years.”
My laugh begins with an unladylike snort. Ah, well. “With me it’s just all soap opera, all the time. Believe it or not, a year ago I was really a boring person.”
“I don’t see how.” He regards me with darting eyes. “You look beautiful tonight.”
“It’s Aurora’s dress,” I whisper.
But Jake doesn’t seem to care. He slips his arms around my waist. Scooting closer, he slides his lips from my forehead, down my nose and onto my mouth. And we begin again.

REVIEW:

****

This was a good book! I am a fan of Ms. Bowen's but I'm not a big YA reader because I often feel the characters are immature and I cannot identify with their drama. But that was definitely not the case here. This is a YA book with a romance aspect, but it's mostly a coming of age story. It did not feel too young to me and I enjoyed it a lot.

This is Rachel's story. Seventeen year old Rachel was raised by her single mother all of her life. But when her mother dies from cancer, Rachel is left alone, not yet able to take care of herself. Enter the father she has never met, famous rockstar Frederick. This story is about Rachel getting to know her father and discovering who she is, while starting a new boarding school and finding her first love. There is some normal teenage drama, but nothing overly angsty or dramatic. I really liked Rachel, as well as her friends and family.

Overall, The Accidentals was a simple yet poignant, easy, coming of age story. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Ms. Bowen in whatever genre she chooses!
