 This is a good quick read! I enjoy everything Setta Jay writes. Her Guardians of the Realms series is crackalicious fun and this book was no different. Destined to Crave is the first book in the spinoff series, Descended of the Guardians, based on the children of the 12 Guardians. 

This book is Lucy and Rykr's story. They met as children and grew up together, soon discovering they were mates. But Lucy was 5 years older than Rykr and they could not claim each other as mates until they both had turned 19. When Lucy turned 19, she lost her powers and she didn't know why. Fearing that the same would happen to Rykr, she told that she wanted them to wait to claim each other until he turned 24. Rykr reluctantly agreed but then something terrible happens and his body absorbs a demon. Now, eight years later, Lucy finds out about the agony Rykr has been in from the demon and tries to help him overcome it so they can finally accept each other as mates. It is hard to describe the story in a way that does it justice, but it's really good, interesting, and easy to follow.

I really liked Lucy and Rykr. They obviously loved each other and both of them stayed true and faithful to each other, despite their separation for years. This book was sweet and sexy. There was little angst. I did feel like the book was a little short and there wasn't a big, suspenseful climax. But this is still an enjoyable, easy read. I will definitely continue this series and read more from Ms. Jay!

I loved this book! It was delicious! I'm not usually a gusher in my reviews. But this is one of the best books I've read in months, so I'm going to gush a little. 

This is Charlie and Ever's story. Ever comes from a long line of mistresses. Her mother and grandmother were mistresses. They had rules they followed, including to never date single men, never see each the same man for longer than a month, and never get attached. Ever was raised the same way. She doesn't date married men though. She has altered the rules so that she dates men that are "married to their job". She co-owns and runs a catering company and is working very hard to get her business going. So the rules have worked her for her nicely. Ever has not had any problem becoming attached to her men. But that all changes when she meets Charlie. Charlie is a police legacy. His father is the police chief and his brother is a lieutenant who trains the new recruits at the academy. Charlie is in the police academy and he is working extremely hard to graduate at the top of his class. Ever and Charlie meet at a bar and are immediately drawn to each other. They both agree that they don't want anything serious between them, Charlie because of his job and Ever because of her rules. They begin a fling where they spend their time together (mostly on their lunch breaks) getting it on and they spend very little time talking. Charlie thinks he has found the perfect scenario with his unicorn, Ever. She is independent, sexy and doesn't ask more from him than he can give. Ever knows she needs to stop their arrangement because her month with him is over (one of her rules). But before she can do that, her mother comes to her with a change of heart. Her mother, who has been a lifelong mistress, a business women, and always independent, now regrets the way she has lived her life. In a "ghost of mistresses past" scene, Ever's mother cries that she is lonely and begs Ever to give up their rules and try to find happiness in a real relationship. Eager to be closer to and please her mother, Ever agrees. So she breaks off her fling with Charlie. But he is not happy with that. He really liked the no-strings sexy fling he had going on with Ever. So he tells her he wants to be friends and starts to sabotage her dating attempts. He thinks that he can convince her to go back to their fling once she sees how bad the dating world is. But when they become friends and really get to know each other, they see how awesome they are together and they fall in love. 

This book is a little of a slow starter, so hang in there if it doesn't grab you attention at first. But once you get going, it is so good! Tessa Bailey has created magic in this book. This story is simple but what makes this story is the characters. Charlie is a big lovable idiot. He had no idea he was in love with Ever, but it was so obvious how much he adored her. He put her on a pedestal. She was the only woman in the world he even saw after he met her. Ever was awesome too. She was independent, but sweet and funny. She adored Charlie too. These awesome, deep, lovable characters shine off the pages. They are everyday folks that you can't help but love. I wanted to be their friend and hang out with Charlie and Ever. They are just an adorable couple. Fun, sexy and I loved the way they loved each other. They were perfect for each other and had amazing chemistry. I could feel their love for each other. There are some super hot times, some really heartfelt scenes, and an epic grovel complete with a police flash mob.

This book left me with such a happy feeling! It was so sweet, sexy and funny. I loved it! So much that I read it twice already. I can't wait for more from this series, as we've gotten glimpses of what's to come in Charlie's friends and family. This book is definitely going on my favorite shelf!

MY REVIEW:

3.75 stars. This was a cute book! This is Nick and Charlotte's story. Nick is a neurosurgeon at St. Luke's and the last doctor featured on the reality show, The Doctor is In. Charlotte is a medical headhunter. She has just moved back to NYC after years away and is sent to headhunt Nick. He is not interested in the job Charlotte is offering, but she is interested in him and lets him know. Nick is crazy busy with work and his daughter and he never dates. But he is flattered and interested. So they begin spending more time together. Charlotte helps Nick come out of his shell and live a little. They begin dating and fall in love. But a random connection between the couple's families threatens to hurt their growing relationship. It all works out in the end though.

I was not sure that I would like Nick in this book. He is Winnie's ex (from Scoring the Billionaire) and dad to her daughter. He is a jerk in that book. He left Winnie when she was pregnant and has been an absentee father for his daughter, Lexi. This fact is highlighted in flashbacks in the beginning of this book. Nick chose money and his career over Winnie and his daughter. It made him look like a huge ass. So he started off on the wrong foot for me. But in the present, he has turned over a new leaf. Nick realized how much he has missed in Lexi's life and has moved to NYC to be near her. He did turn out to be a good guy. I liked him. He is a workaholic, never dates, and loves his job. I really liked Charlotte too. She was fun and lively. She was just what Nick needed to liven him up. I liked their relationship. It was easy, fun and sexy. The conflicts to their relationship are not of their own making, but having to do with Nick's family and Charlotte's past. I was glad that they were able to overcome that.

There were a few things that I didn't love. The first sexy time scene was fade to black. I have no idea why and I definitely felt cheated.  Also, there is a 3 mo. separation near the end of the book. I hate that. It is a huge pet peeve of mine and totally ruins the momentum of the relationship. 3 months of barely talking so close to end of the book almost (but not quite) ruins the whole thing for me. 

But, overall, this is still a cute little book. Fun and sexy! Nick and Charlotte's story is an easy, low angst read. I will definitely read more from Max Monroe in the future!
