Review: Provocative by Lisa Renee Jones

Provocative
by Lisa Renee Jones

4 stars
****

This was a good start to this duet! This is start of Faith and Nick's story. Faith lost her mother recently and inherited the family winery. She is an artist, but has put her career on the back burner to try to save the winery from going bankrupt and being sold to creditors. Nick is a "Tiger" (his nickname) of a lawyer. He exudes danger and sexiness. Nick has recently lost his father and is investigating the death. He finds that his father was paying large amounts of money to Faith's mother before both of their deaths. He "bumps" into Faith at a function at her winery, hoping to find out if she murdered their parents. Instead, he find himself drawn to her and she to him, in a way neither of them have felt before. They are swept into a relationship with each other. Faith and Nick must decide if they can trust each other and if they can face the demons from their pasts and move on together.

I really liked both Faith and Nick. They were both strong, sexy and mysterious characters.
Lisa Renee Jones knows how to bring the romantic suspense. She is so good at ramping up the tension between characters. The writing is excellent. Faith and Nick are so attracted to each other and feel a strong connection to each other. But both are unsure whether they can trust each other. And both hold major secrets that they haven't yet shared with each other. Their chemistry is so electric. Neither of them have felt the way they do with each other before. They are falling for each other. They both have pasts that they are afraid to share and are worried that the other will hate them when they find out their secrets. Also, Faith is trying to save her family winery from bankruptcy and keep up with her blossoming art career. Nick wants to find out if his father's death (and Faith's mother's) was murder.

I felt like there was maybe a little too much mystery built up in this book. I definitely felt the connection between Faith and Nick, but I wanted more. I wanted answers to some of their secrets. I am very much looking forward to book 2, when their secrets will be revealed.  I hate that I have to wait until July, but I know the pay off will be worth it!

Overall, I enjoyed this book and can't wait for the conclusion to Faith and Nick's story!
