Blog Tour: Trick Play by Max Monroe + Review & Excerpt!

Trick Play
by Max Monroe

From the New York Times & USA Today bestselling author duo Max Monroe comes a hilarious and sexy standalone about a secret, forbidden romance and just how tricky love can be.

How do you fall in love with a woman whose real name you don’t know?
Well, ladies and gentlemen…sexy, pro-football star Cam Mitchell is about to find out.

Booze, women, and brotherhood—that’s what my good friend Quinn’s bachelor party should have been.

Booze, one mysterious raven-haired woman, and an arrest—that’s what it was.

As Cam Mitchell, a New York Maverick and one of the best tight ends in the professional football league, my to-do list should be pretty simple.

Play ball.
Get laid.
Have fun.

But after one hour with a stripper named Trixie, that list of mine has shifted dramatically.

Tell Quinn to call my lawyer.
And, for the love of God, don’t get fired from the Mavericks.

I swear, I tried to make it stop there.
But one tiny thing keeps finding its way to the very top…

Find out more about the dark-haired beauty with the big blue eyes and make her mine.

Too bad it’s a hell of a lot more complicated than that.

How do you fall in love with a woman whose real name you don’t know?

Well, ladies and gentlemen…I’m about to find out.

REVIEW:

4 stars
****

This was a cute book! Trick Play is Cam Mitchell and Lana's story. Cam is one of the pro-football players on the Mavericks. When his friend Quinn (from Wildcat) has a bachelor party at a strip club, Cam meets the woman of his dreams. He can't get her out of his mind and goes out of his way to pursue her. The only problem is the woman of his dreams, who he thinks is a stripper named Trixie, is actually Lana and she's way more than just a stripper. Lana has some big secrets. She likes Cam, but she has to stay focused on keeping her secrets in order to keep herself and everyone she loves safe. As she spends time with him, it gets harder and harder to keep him in the dark. When Cam finds out what Lana's hiding, he is not happy at all. But their strong feelings for each other overcome in the end.

I really enjoyed this book! It is definitely my favorite in this series. I connected well with the characters and story. This was a fun, light read. It was quick and easy with Max Monroe's trademark humor, but it had a dash of suspense emotional punch as well. Yet, it was not OTT, forced, silly-funny. Cam was adorable and Lana was strong, yet still vulnerable. They were a great couple. I would have liked the conflict wrapped up a little sooner than the last few pages, but that did not stop my enjoyment. I also would have liked to see more of what their relationship was like once Lana's secret came out. Still, there is a cute epilogue to make up for it.

Overall, this was a fun, entertaining read. I enjoyed watching Cam and Lana "tackle love"! I can't wait for more from the Mavericks and Max Monroe in the future!
