ADD TO YOUR TBR -- http://bit.ly/WouldBeKingGR

A dare turns into so much more…
All I want to do is get to work on time. But a Prince Harry look-a-like is trying to steal my cab, and that’s not going to happen.
In the midst of the battle, I discover I lost my wallet. So I bargain—a free ride for a kiss.
His lips taste like mint, and when he tugs me closer, I can feel the hard muscles beneath his expensive suit.
The kiss ends just as we reach our destination, and I’m so taken aback by the explosiveness of it, I rush out without so much as a goodbye. I’m a hopeless romantic with no time for distractions.
But fate, that bitch, Has us pounding on the same locked door.
Already knowing I’m going to be fired, I curse my new boss and his new rules. The hot suit laughs, And dares me to tell my new boss what a dick he’s being. With nothing to lose, I accept.
Never in a million years could I have imagined he is my new boss. Dating him is against the rules, His rules. He’s a rulebreaker, though, And everyone knows a rulebreaker isn’t a forever-kind-of-guy.
So when he says let’s keep things casual, I dare him not to fall in love with me.
But there’s a reason rules aren’t meant to be broken, And finding that out is the hardest thing I’ll ever have to do in my life.
My rulebreaker has a name, It’s Prince Maximus Montgomery. And this is our story.

This is a STANDALONE romance.

REVIEW:

3 stars

***

This a cute idea for an anthology. Each author chose a song and wrote a story based on the lyrics to the song. There are a several stories I really liked, several I did not enjoy very much, and a few that were just okay, so I am rating this 3 stars. In general, I liked this anthology and felt it was worth reading.

Here are my thoughts about the stories:

Guys My Age by Saffron A. Kent- 3 stars. This story was about a 3 year old little girl who was best friends with a teenage boy and told him she wanted to marry him. Flash forward to when she is 18 and can finally tell him she loves him and wants to be with him. This story was only okay for me. The heroine felt immature and the hero wasn't very nice. They stated they loved each other, but I didn't feel it.

Say It First by Nikki Sloane - 3.5 stars. The story of two high school classmates that made it big, but weren't close in high school, who get talking again over a Facebook post about their high school reunion. This was a pretty cute and entertaining story. It was a safe, easy read. I would have liked a more secure HEA ending but I know that's hard to get in such a short story.

Broken Hallelujah by Sierra Simone- 2 stars. Not my cup of tea. A F/F story that was very angsty, overly drama filled and had BDSM. I didn't really like the characters.

Say Yes by Elle Kennedy - 3.75 stars. This was a fun story about a girl that has a one night stand the night before her friend's wedding only to find out it was with the groom's twin brother. I liked this story a lot. It was very funny and cute. Again, I would have liked a more secure HEA ending but I know that's hard to get in such a short story. One of my favorites of the anthology.

All I Want by Mara White - 2 stars. This story was about a wife who cheated on her much older husband in order to get pregnant. This was another one that was not my cup of tea. I didn't really like either character. It contained cheating and I found the story strange. The writing was not bad though.

Toothpaste Kisses by Xio Axelrod - 2 stars. This was another miss for me. Slow moving, MM story. I never felt any love or chemistry and found it not interesting.

Wild Pitch by Rebecca Shea - 2 stars. This story bothered me. The hero decided they couldn't be together and needed to be apart for "reasons". Now 4 years later, they happen to see each other and he decides the "reasons" are up and they can be together now. The heroine just jumps at the chance. I couldn't get on board with that.

Your Everything by K. L. Kreig - 2 stars. I found it a confusing story. At the end, we find out this story was a prequel to a series where this couple is in a love triangle. I think we are supposed to know the story already and the set-up from having read that series, but I hadn't and it wasn't clear enough for me to understand.

Think I'm in Love by Leslie McAdam - 2.5 stars. An angsty, MM, friends to lovers story. I liked Randy (hated his name) and felt bad for him, but did not like Shane very much. He treated Randy badly. The ending is a cliffy so there was no pay off for me for the angst.

Moment of Truth by Veronica Larsen - 2.5-3 stars. This story was okay. Best friends to lovers, but I felt it took too long for them to get out of the friend zone and I didn't feel any chemistry.

Lush by Marni Mann - 3.25 stars. This was the story of a female sex club owner who fell for one of her male customers, only for him to disappear and reappear much later. I liked this story, but I felt the ending was too open-ended. I needed a more secure future for the couple.

Kiss Me by Lynda Aicher - 3.75 stars. This story was my favorite of the anthology. This is the story of a woman who gets fired when her company downsizes and meets her ex-boss in a bar that night only to find out why she was let go and that he has strong feelings for her. It was sexy and romantic. I felt it was missing something in that we never get to hear the hero tell the heroine what exactly his feelings were, but I liked it nonetheless.

As you can see, it was a mixed bag of stories for me, but several of them I really enjoyed. My favorites were by Lynda Aicher, Elle Kennedy and Nikki Sloane, which are already some of my favorite authors. There is a lot of variety of stories and authors in this anthology so there is something for everyone. It is definitely worth picking up!

My life is one big party until the day I turn 27 and everything changes. Before I can take over my grandfather’s vineyard, I have to… 1) Move back to my hometown. 2) Stop partying. 3) Get married. Wait! What? Before I know it, I’m buying a huge-ass diamond ring. Throwing a balls-out engagement party. And making the wedding a quickie before the bride has a chance to change her mind. Marrying me isn’t her first choice. She says this party boy is anything but husband material. That I’m cocky, arrogant, presumptuous, and even manipulative. With both of our failing businesses merging and a contract that states only one winery can survive, we’re spending a lot of time negotiating, and not the kind I prefer. Still, our perfectly unstable marriage is right on track until I go and screw everything up. Now I have to win her back, and short of rewinding time or riding in on a white horse, I’m at a loss of how to do that. Unless… Hey, every girl dreams of a Prince Charming. Right? Well, I can redefine this party boy, and turn him into one. Just wait and see.

Review:

3.5-3.75 stars

Playing for Keeps is a good addition to the Heartbreaker Bay series. This is Caleb and Sadie's story. Sadie is a tattoo artist and Caleb a businessman. Both work in Heartbreaker Bay and have the same group of friends. The two have had an attraction since they met, but Sadie has avoided him because of preconceived notions of him being a "suit" and her own past relationship baggage. But one rainy night, they both happen upon a homeless three-legged dog. They rescue the dog together and both want to adopt him, so they decide to share him. Over the course of time, as they share the dog, they spend time together and fall for each other.

I liked this book. The story and writing are good. I liked Caleb a lot, but Sadie was only an okay character to me. Caleb is a good guy. Sadie is a bit prickly. She pushes him away a good bit and there is a lot of back and forth between them. I felt like Sadie was sometimes mean to Caleb in an effort to push him away. I felt bad for him. But when Sadie and Caleb were happy, I did like her and I do think the two of them made a good couple. Sadie needed someone like him in her life. I liked the "dog share" scenario. It was fun and unique.

Overall, this was a pretty good book, even if it's not my favorite of the series. I still love the Heartbreaker Bay series and look forward to more from Ms. Shalvis!

Excerpt:

“Don’t run off,” he said. “I don’t like it when people tell me what to do.” “I get that,” he said. “And same. Also, I try very hard to never tell anyone what to do. But I think we need to finish this.” Another quiver from deep inside her. “I keep telling you, there’s no this.” “Are you sure?” Very slowly and carefully, clearly giving her plenty of time to get away if she really wanted, he stepped into her, making her extremely aware that she now stood hemmed in between the alley wall and his body, neither quite touching her. But she wanted him too. She actually ached to close that last inch between them. She didn’t do it. Instead, she lifted her chin. “I could make you an eunuch right now if I wanted.” The threat was minimalized by the fact that she whispered the threat, but suddenly holding onto her temper was difficult. So was talking. “Don’t think I can’t.” “I have no doubt,” he said, still holding one of her hands. He took the other as well and squeezed gently. “I think you could probably do anything you set your mind to.” No one had ever said those words to her, not ever, and when she felt the back of her eyes sting unexpectedly, she closed them in self defense. “Sadie.” She shook her head. “Look at me. Please?” It was the damn please that had her opening her eyes. Caleb had closed the gap so that if she so much as took a breath, they’d be touching. So she did just that. She took a deep breath, and then their bodies were up against each other, his warm and hard. Everywhere. “What’s happening?” she whispered. “I believe you’re deciding between kicking me in the nuts and kissing me.” One side of his mouth curved very slightly as he lifted their still joined hands above her head, against the wall. “But that last part might just be in my dreams.” “Yes,” she whispered. “Yes, it’s just in my dreams?” She meant to say yes again, she really did. She even opened her mouth to say it, because this was insane, this incredible … craving she had for him. It made no sense. Less than no sense, and yet … She went up on tiptoe and touched her mouth to his.

About Jill:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jill Shalvis writes warm, funny, sexy contemporary romances and women’s fiction. An Amazon, BN & iBooks bestseller, she’s also a two-time RITA winner and has more than 10 million copies of her books sold worldwide.

Jill lives with her family in a small town in the Sierras full of quirky characters (Any resemblance to the quirky characters in her books is mostly coincidental). She does most of her writing on her deck surrounded by more animals than humans. Which is quite astonishing considering she’s a city girl who was plucked from the wilds of L.A. to the wilds of the Sierra’s. Most of her books come from a combination of hard work, cookies, and hot guy pics, and not necessarily in that order.

Jill often travels to reader weekends & conventions where she LOVES getting to meet and hang-out with readers. The only problem being she tends to get lost in her hotels. So if you ever see NYTimes Bestselling author Jill Shalvis roaming the halls, someone please return her immediately.

New Release: Overnight Sensation by Sarina Bowen + Review!

Overnight Sensation
by Sarina Bowen

Everyone knows the girl is off limits. But it's so good to be bad.

There's this girl...
Heidi and I have been trading hungry looks all year, and everything she does makes me smile. But I don't do girlfriends, and I certainly can't get involved with the league commissioner's daughter. I need shots on goal, not a hookup and a widely misunderstood paparazzi photo.
Can I resist her, though? The way she teases me should be a game penalty for interference with my libido.

There's this guy...
Jason wants me, but he won't admit it. That man looks at me the way a hockey player eyes the lunch buffet after practice--and I love it.
But when victory is finally within my grasp, I blow it and humiliate myself. Even then I can't even avoid him--as the team intern, I'm in constant view of his hard body and cocky smile.
I need another chance. Jason Castro is about to learn the true meaning of an overnight sensation.

REVIEW:

3.5-3.75 stars
****

This was a pretty good book. Overnight Sensation is Jason and Heidi's story. Jason is a pro hockey player for the Brooklyn Bruisers. Heidi is an intern for the team, but unbeknownst to Jason, she also the hockey commissioners daughter. She is trying to break free from her family and find her own place, quitting college and moving out on her own. The two have been attracted to each other and they almost hookup, but then Jason finds out who her father is and decides he can't go there. He is not a relationship guy and doesn't want to go there with Heidi.  But she wants Jason and pursues him. They become friends, which leads to more, and they fall in love.

I liked the story and the book in general. I liked Heidi and Jason. I didn't love that she was the main pursuer in the relationship, but I did like her pluckiness, hard work and positive attitude. I understood why Jason was the way he was, because of his past ( <spoiler> his high school girlfriend died and it messed him up. </spoiler> ), but I felt a little frustrated with him for pushing Heidi away and not realizing how great she was. Once he got his head out, I did feel like the conflict wrapped up a little too close to the end and a little too easily. I didn't feel they were 100% completely in love yet by the end. Still, I was entertained by this book and it kept my attention. I was happy that Jason and Heidi found each other, fell in love and got their HEA.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, even if it was a "like it" and not a "love it". I really enjoy this series as well as everything Ms. Bowen writes. I look forward to more from her in the future!
