REVIEW:

4.5-4.75 stars
*****

Runaway Girl is one of the best books I've read in a long time! This book is Naomi and Jason's story. In Getaway Girl, a previous stand alone book by Tessa Bailey, we met Elijah, who had just been left at the altar. His story was told in that book. Now, in Runaway Girl, we get Naomi's side of the story. We find out where she went after running away from her wedding, what she did and who she met (and fell in love with). Naomi ended up driving away and wound up in St. Augustine. There she got her first job, using one of her only skills, as a pageant coach, working with a young girl named Birdie. Jason is Birdie's older brother, who is home on leave from the Army caring for Birdie until she graduates high school after the death of her twin sister. I won't go into more detail about the story because I don't want to give too much away, but this story was so good!

I loved both Naomi and Jason. Naomi was striking out on her own, being brave and trying to live life her way and to the fullest. She found herself on this journey and I loved the way she came into her own. Jason was awesomely alpha. He was a little gruff, but underneath, sweet and protective. I loved the way he was in awe of and adored Naomi in his own tough guy way. Their chemistry was combustible. I loved them together so much. There was great, delicious sexual tension and, when it broke, their sexy scenes were some of the hottest I've ever read. Holy Hotness! I loved their journey to falling in love and everything that happened between them along the way.

This book was so so good, and one of the most romantic books I've ever read. It made me cry with it's perfection and sweetness. There is a great epilogue, too. The book was deliciously long and satisfying. There were great, unique characters. Besides loving Jason and Naomi, I also loved Birdie. I hope she gets her own book one day too.

Runaway Girl was romantic, sexy, fun and emotional. Gah. Just... love. I just loved everything about it. It is a very near-perfect book, which is saying a lot coming this very picky reader. I think it is tied with Disorderly Conduct for my favorite book by Ms. Bailey, who is fast becoming one of my very favorite authors. Her characters' depth and chemistry just does it for me in the very best way. I can not wait to see what she comes up with next!

Author Bio

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of ten years and six-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
