New Release: Oops, I've Fallen by Max Monroe + Review!

Oops, I’ve Fallen, an all-new funny and swoon-worthy standalone romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Max Monroe is available now!

If my time with Ryan Miller were a hit track on the radio, I imagine the lyrics would go something like this…

“We’re so different, but they say opposites attract. Oops, I’ve fallen, and my heart doesn’t want to come back.”

But, holy bingo night, is my attraction to the sexy, broody businessman so much more complicated than the chorus of a song.

His dad lives right next to my mom, and after the two of them suffered an unexplained accident while taking down holiday decorations, both Ryan and I were forced to become the only thirtysomething residents of Sunny Creek Village Independent Senior Living Community.

Temporarily moving in might seem like overkill for a fractured tailbone and a severely pulled groin muscle, but believe me, when your mom is as wild as mine and your dad is as cantankerous as Ryan’s, they need supervision to ensure they stick to doctor’s orders.

Constantly thrown together by the antics of our crazy parents and the tough-as-nails community enforcer, Betty Matthews, Ryan and I formed an alliance for the sole purpose of survival.

But I never expected to be so interested in finding out what he was hiding beneath his grumpy, serious demeanor. More than that, I never dreamed what I found would be the kind of man women sell their souls to the devil for.

Unfortunately, our little one-hit wonder on the airwaves has more to say before it comes to an end.

Although, finishing the outro to this song is a real doozy...

Tell me…what lyric rhymes with Oops, I’ve fallen for my future stepbrother?

This was a cute book! Oops, I've Fallen is a standalone book by Max Monroe. This is Carly and Ryan's story. Carly is a free spirit who teaches ski lessons in Colorado. Ryan is more buttoned up and a businessman/workaholic from NYC. When Carly's mom, Stella, breaks her tailbone in a mysterious accident in her retirement village in Florida, she flies down to stay with her and take care of her for a few months. There she meets Carly's mom's next door neighbor, who was also hurt in her mysterious accident, an senior man named Sal. Sal's son, Ryan has also flown in to take care of his dad. Carly and Ryan are thrown together when Sal and Stella announce they are in love. The two act like horny teenagers, leaving Carly and Ryan to bond over their parents and join forces in keeping them in line. As they spend time together, the two of them fall for each other as well.

I wasn't sure if I was digging this book at first. Carly came off as a little annoying and rude, in an effort to appear carefree. She seemed immature for 36. But once she got around her mom and had to be the grown up in the scenario and the voice of reason, she calmed down a bit and I liked her. I thought Ryan was a little dull at first too, but he loosened up, as well. So it took me a little bit to warm up to the characters. But I ended up liking them and the story was cute. I liked the couple together, even if they were a little lacking in chemistry. The retirement village setting and zany senior side characters had the chance to go into "too cheesy" territory, but it turned out okay, too.

Overall, this was an entertaining, light, easy and fun read. I enjoyed Carly and Ryan's love story. The jump ahead epilogue was super cute, too. I look forward to more from Max Monroe in the future!
