New Release: Dream Chaser by Kristen Ashley + Review!

Dream Chaser by Kristen Ashley is now available!

In this steamy, addictive contemporary romance spinning off the New York Times bestselling Dream Man and Rock Chick series, Ryn Jansen must put her trust in the one man she wants -- and the one man she can't let herself have.

Ryn Jansen has no interest in taking a risk on Boone Sadler. Thanks to a long list of men who've done nothing but let her down, Ryn vows to stay far away from the caring, protective commando. And when Boone confronts Ryn with evidence that her loved ones are conning her, Ryn is less than thrilled -- with her family and Boone. But even as Boone proves he's the kind of guy to meet her every need, she doesn't trust him to stay when life gets hard . . .

Boone Sadler's never been one to back down from a challenge. He's determined to show the funny, sexy Ryn that the irresistible connection between them is worth exploring. But caring for Ryn's heart and body becomes a matter of life and death when Ryn's beloved niece and nephew are put in danger and dirty cops begin gunning for Ryn. Soon Boone realizes their romance is in danger of more than heartbreak -- and to have any future together, they'll have to put their trust in each other.

This was a pretty good book, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book in the series. Dream Chaser is Ryn (Kathryn) and Boone's story. Ryn is a stripper friend of Lottie's and an aspiring house flipper. She bought a house and planned to flip it, but has been having to use her extra money to help support her sister in law, neice and nephew because her brother is an alcoholic. She also has struck up a weird friendship of sorts with Cisco, who we met in the previous book, and who is a misunderstood criminal accused of killing a police officer. Boone is a security guy and member of Hawk's crew, as well as friends with the other guys in the previous book. He and Ryn have had an interest in each other, but Ryn has turned down his advances. She has had so much on her plate that she hasn't been able to find time to date. Boone started dating someone else. But everything comes to a perfect storm when Ryn's family drama and Cisco drama come to a head, putting her in danger and in need of protection from Boone, who is ready to convince Ryn to take a shot on him.

I enjoyed this story. I liked Ryn and Boone. I just didn't feel very much chemistry between them. I didn't like that they had a D/s relationship because it didn't feel like it was written well. I am glad though that it wasn't like the Honey series in it's raunchiness. It just felt like inauthentic BDSM light and I didn't like the leashing aspect. KA's usual man-speak didn't fit with a dom's personality either, in my opinion. I wish the BDSM had been left out. I do like reading BDSM, but do not enjoy KA's version of it. But the story was pretty good. It kept my attention and I felt the love between the couple. I liked the house flipping aspect, as well as being able to catch up with the other couples in the series.

Overall, this was an entertaining read. While I didn't completely love it, it was worth reading and enjoyable in general. I am liking this series, though, and I look forward to more from it and Ms. Ashley in the future.
