This is a good book! The Rebel Queen is book 11 in the Thieves series. At the end of the previous book in the series, Stealing Summer, Zoey, Dev, Daniel, Kelsey, and their new friend Dean had returned through the painting from being in different plane saving Summer. When they arrive back, everything they know and love has changed. Somehow twelve years have passed. Their children, Rhys, Lee and Evan, are all adults now and are outlaws with bounties on their heads. Evil, treacherous Myrddin has taken over the kingdom. Many people they know and love have died. Now, Zoey, Dev and Daniel must figure out how to take back the throne and defeat Myrddin all while maneuvering relationships with their now-adult children and mourning the years they lost with them.
This book was interesting and well-written. I found it a good way to move the series along, although not many problems were resolved in the book. It was an angsty story with some heartache and growing pains for the family. Some of it was hard to read and there were not a lot of happy moments. But Dev, Daniel and Zoey have figured out the dynamic that works best for them and know how to weather the hard times together. Their relationship is completely solid. I enjoyed meeting the kids as grownups and I'm really looking forward to seeing their stories and romances develop first hand. I am also really looking forward to Kelsey's story of how things go when she reunites with Gray and Trent, which hopefully happens in the next book.
Overall, this was a good, entertaining read. There are so many possibilities for future books with this series and I'm impatient to see how everything unfolds for these characters. I love this series ans I look forward to whatever Ms. Blake comes up with next!
