New Release: Bond of Destiny by Larissa Ione + Review!

Bond of Destiny, an all new fast paced paranormal stand-alone novella in the Demonica series from New York Times bestselling author Larissa Ione and 1,001 Dark Nights, is available now!

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Larissa Ione returns with a new story in her Demonica series…

Sold into slavery mere hours after his birth to werewolf parents, Tracker spent decades in service to cruel underworlders. Then the fallen angel Harvester transferred his ownership to a human woman who gave him as much freedom as the unbreakable bond would allow. Still, thanks to his traumatic past, he’s afraid to trust, let alone feel love. But when an acquaintance shows up at his door, injured and in need of help, he finds himself longing for a connection. For someone to touch. For someone to care.

Stacey Orr has had it bad for Tracker since the day her best friend, Jillian, was forced to hold his unbreakable slave bond. At first, the fact that he’s a werewolf seemed weird to Stacey, but hey, her best friend was married to one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, so weird is definitely a matter of perspective. Stacey knows the depths of Tracker’s trauma, and she longs to help him even as he helps her, but breaking through his walls isn’t easy.

And it only gets harder when the only blood family he has, the pack that gave him away, lays claim to him…and everything he loves.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Bonds of Destiny is a novella from Larissa Ione's Demonica series and is Tracker and Stacy's story. Tracker has been a slave for all of his life and the official rules deem him unable to ever be freed. He is also a werewolf, sold by his parents as a baby into slavery. He undergoes many years of torture and abuse. Then fallen angel Harvester transfers his ownership to Jillian, a human married to Reever, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Jillian is a kind owner and feels bad that she is Tracker's owner, but at least he can now have a kind master and better life. Stacy is Jillian's best friend who has been attracted to Tracker, but never acted on those feelings. That is until she gets into a wreck during a snowstorm and happens to walk to the closest house, which is Tracker's. The two of them wind up stranded together during a blizzard and they get to know each other. Tracker has never felt able to pursue any kind of relationship at all because of the rules of slavery. Still, they can't help as feeling develop between them. Fate has a way of working everything out so that they can fall in love and be together.

I have really enjoyed the books from the Demonica series, however, this wasn't one of my favorites. I liked the story. But I did feel like Tracker acted a little too innocent and childlike for much of the story for me to really get behind a romance for him. He did get stronger as the book went on though, so I liked the second half of the book a bit more than the first. Stacy was an okay character for me. I just didn't feel much of a connection to the story and the love between the couple. I did like the story though, even if I did think it felt extra short this time.

Overall, I really like like Ms. Ione's world building. This may not be my favorite book of the series, but I still enjoyed it. I was happy Tracker and Stacy got their well-deserved happy ending with each other. I look forward to more from Ms. Ione in the future!
