New Release: Indecent Exposure by Tessa Bailey + Review

Indecent Exposure
by Tessa Bailey

About the book:

Is there a problem, Officer?

Jack Garrett isn’t a police officer yet, but there’s already an emergency. His new firearms instructor—the one who just dropped every jaw in the academy gym—is the same sexy Irish stranger Jack locked lips with last night. The Olympic gold medalist and expert markswoman is now officially off-limits, but Jack’s never cared much for rules . . .

Katie McCoy’s been cooped up in a shooting range for too long. A wild love affair is just what she needs to let loose, though she never imagined it would be with her smokin’ hot trainee. She cannot get involved with Jack—but a quick fling? Perfect. Falling hard for a charismatic recruit with an equal amount of sex appeal and secrets? Bloody stupid.

Jack’s charmed the pants off plenty of women (literally), yet few have ever looked beyond his perfect surface. Until Katie. He’ll do anything to keep her in his life . . . except tell her about his past. But a tiny lie of omission never hurt anyone, right?

My Review:

4-4.25 stars
****

This was a good book! This is Jack and Katie's book. Jack is Charlie's roommate (from Disorderly Conduct) and is also in the police academy. Katie is a sharpshooter/marksmen expert, and Olympic shooting medalist, visiting NYC to help train the police academy students. The two meet by accident on the street, sparks fly between them, and after spending some time together that day, they share a kiss. Both of them are shocked when they see each other again and find Katie is one of his instructors at the academy. They can't stay away from each other and spend the two weeks Katie has in NY together, spending time together and falling for each other. Both of them have some emotional things to work through before they can figure out a way to be together, but they make it work and work hard for their HEA.

I did really enjoy this book. But it is not a light book. There are some heavy subjects here. Jack is an alcoholic and he has some pretty serious emotional baggage due to his past. He is on a downward spiral when he meets Katie, barely caring about anything including the police academy. Meeting Katie and spending time with her, he begins to face his demons and she makes him want to be a better man for her. Katie also has issues, due to her brother's death by a drunk driver, and her father's very heavy pressure on her to continue her sport and compete in the next Olympics. Both Jack and Katie have a lot to work through and figure out before they can be together. But there are also moments of levity to break up the heaviness. I did want a few more happy times between them to balance out the emotional times more. Jack and Katie have an instant connection and chemistry. They were so good together and good for each other. I loved the way they adored each other. They both learned a lot from each other. It was great to see the way their relationship developed, even with some bumps in the road, and to see them get their well-deserved HEA (and an awesome ending!).

I liked this book a lot, but not quite as much as book 1, Disorderly Conduct. It is a much heavier book, not as funny and light. Still, it has the same connection and chemistry between the characters that I love. Overall, this is a sexy, emotional, sweet book. I am really liking this series a lot. I enjoyed catching up with Charlie and Ever and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, Disturbing his Peace!
